Thread: Steven's Artwork Thread

  1. #1

    Default Steven's Artwork Thread

    2012 is an exciting year for me, lots of new stuff! I'm just graduated from college and I am using the new year as a re birth of my online presence. Got myself a logo, I have a consistent them with my media, Deviantart, Facebook, and Twitter have been updated. Currently working on a website and converting Tumblr and my blog. I've decided to make a new thread because I thought the previous one's title was a little misleading, at the time I thought I was able to do "Something New Everyday"... but I wasn't able to upload or get to the web in time to make that a truth.

    Let's start this thread off with my first animation of this year;

    I am planning on doing another one of these, maybe something longer. 38 seconds (with 8 seconds being credits) seems really short... But I knew I wanted the above done in a week (Granted... I made it in a week and a half; with me being extremely lazy on some days) After working on a 2 minute long 3D animation I wanted to do something that was a little more simple. The backgrounds were created in a 3D program, then altered in Photoshop to look a little bit less generic; and the characters are (poorly) animated in Flash and spruced up in After Effects.

    It might sound like a cop-out but I was wanting this to be more about the style and the overall product rather than my animation skills. Over all the I'm happy with the screen caps, and the audio editing. The next animation I'll focus more on animation.

    I didn't have the best New Years, nothing bad happen but nothing good either. I spent a good amount of it alone, on a side note I drew myself dancing to cheer myself up.

    Awesome dude. I'm really looking forward to commissioning you this year. I have to. I must! So please stick around!

    You're already doing much seconds per week than I am, AND you've got the camera doing that thing where the background moves slower than the foreground.
    As far as I'm concerned you're a genius.

    Woo, another thread. I love how versatile your stuff is and this Community animation was a fantastic way to start off the year! Best of luck this year.~

    Absolutely love the caricature self portrait. Definitely something everyone should do if they're going into an art field.

    Default WIP it Good.

    Young Titans

    WIP of 1 of two Young Justice and Teen Titan crossover pieces. "Young Titans" will be the Teen Titans sans Robin in Young Justice style. The second piece is planned to be called "Teen Justice" with... you guessed it; Young Justice cast again sans Robin in Teen Titans art style. I'm assuming that one will be a lot more fun to work it.

    Detective Conan
    I joined a digital paint group on Facebook, and I've tried to challenge myself to do one piece a week. I'm already behind haha. When I lay down for bed a lot of times I pop in a Case Closed dvd and listen to it as I close my eyes. So I thought it would've been the perfect thing to do. See I'm gonna call it Fanart Friday, where I post a tribute to something each Friday. Technically the Community animation can count, but this was suppose to be the first.

    Also I like to note that this is going to be in color, I'm just painting black and white.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Okay, so I did edit together a minute long script for another Community animation. Again its just the group at the table; mostly because its easier to animate people from the waist up. This time around it'll be a minute long "episode" with a beginning middle and end. I'm still thinking about taking on an extra 15 seconds for a credit gag (possibly something with a popular side character; who's your favorites?).
    The Cold Open's script is this;
    Close up of "Disco Stu" skates, zoom out and while skating bumps into Jeff, Britta, and Abed.
    Jeff: Watch it, punk.
    Britta: What are you? 80?
    Jeff: Is it just me... or is this campus getting more cartoony each day.
    "Disco Stu" skates by popular cartoon characters in my style, Starburns, the mascot, and Magnitude.
    Abed: Yea... we clearly have entered a whole new medium!
    Jeff: Will your reality ever come out on Blu-Ray so we can enjoy it to?
    I still don't get it, you're good enough to work for Cartoon Network or something but you don't? Or do you? I can't see any other path than up for you.
    And at the same time... Last sentence of your first post made me all sad. :(
    Who exactly is Mumbo?
    Default I Wish
    I would love to work at Cartoon Network someday, but I do not currently. I live in Louisville, Kentucky far from where I would need to be to work at CN. I do not have the funds to live near CN at the moment. I am planning on moving back up to Indianapolis, Indiana when I get the right amount of money to at least get into a media based job to rack up experience.
    In the mean time, here's a style test for the next animation I am planning doing;
    I'm sure you guys can guess what it is.
    Haha, what?
    Here's a little work in progress shot of Envy;
    I was expecting to be further in this project, but I got swamped with work. I've got some more Bowling for Soup related stuff coming along. Wish I could post it.
    So there's this Talk Radio show on Radio Reddit that has contacted me to some illustrations. Apparently one of their listeners recommended me. That's so freaking cool.
    Troy and Abed, in 8Bit. If you have tumblr you can reblog this one here. I also started using Reddit.
    While I am shamelessly plugging, I've updated my Facebook and twitter with new backgrounds to go with the new branding.
    I still don't have too much to update here with. I've been working hard and a lot, but because most of the work is official stuff... makes it hard to post unless they post it online. But once the Soup starts posting their stuff online, I'll be sure to update with it.
    On a side note, after I finish a commission up, should I work on the Teen Titan fan art or the Scott Pilgrim animation first?
    I'm more curious about SP, but that's because I'm a fan.
    I've recently been watching Breaking Bad. Man, I feel like I've been doing nothing but commission work; so I decided to sketch that out for me. haha.
    Default Here's some of that work I can't show...
    I always wait for my clients to post my work online for me. That way I know I am not breaking any rules. Every year I do an illustration for promos and t shirts for Jaret and Erik's Acoustic Tour. Seriously its become an annual thing. You can see the drawing on their site too. There is a tshirt version of this, but it isn't online yet.
    The above is a quick demo of art style for a possible animation I'll have to do. Someone is currently working with me to make a pretty nicely paid video. I'm also on the 2nd images for that radio show, and currently got contracted to create assets for a iphone game. So again, I don't mean for this thread to be dead, just a lot work that I can't show.
    Quick Digital painting practice. Based off a high school friend, that I became friends with again through Facebook.
