Yup, this is very nearly my favorite show airing this season. The playing just looks so lifelike, and the rotoscoping is more fluid than I would've expected.
But the most interesting part: the series is set during the beginning months of the cultural revolution in China, the years preceding the counterculture in the West, and the 6 years before the reversion of the islands just south of the story's setting. I'm still not sure what's connecting the series and the history surrounding the southern islands, but I can already tell there's a little social upheaval with our MC switching from classical to jazz.
