Greetings! You may know me from before, but I once came from another forum called the Total War Center Forums. Based on the total war franchise, it is (IMHO) bigger than this forum, and I tend to spend more time there. Why? Because of this neat little system about Reputation. Read about it here! http://www.twcenter.net/wiki/TWC:FAQ#Reputation

One of the main reasons I go there so often is because with reputation, good behavior, great and memorable posts and contributions will be rewarded, aka something more to work for. I would like to push very hard on implementing this into our own forum right away if possible! I think it would also be great to increase the fame and advertising of this website, surely something forums desire, yes?

On the topic on how the different icons and descriptions (as described in my link) should look like on this forum (if this suggestion passes) that's up to you to decide. I hope you take into account this suggestion! Thank you!

    Sincerely, The Flying Dutchman

P.S: I think we should create a separate political discussion sub-forum if you ask me!

I don't believe such a system should be needed here. I would like to think that people shouldn't need an incentive to motivate them into good behavior, and this forum does plenty already to recognize those with good reputations and contributions, with senior promotions being one such example. Plus, I feel that a system like this would encourage plenty of sucking up and dick-riding, to put it crudely.

Virtue is its own reward, after all.

    ~Stargazer~, an original story.

This sig is still wittier than yours.

We already have join dates, and that leads to enough elitism by itself. Don't need little green bars beneath a user's name saying how many other people have clicked on their name to fill it up.

Okay, now I want a gratuitous rep system, just to inflate my own ego. Since as a mod I can probably max it out instantly.

I thought VBulletin mods could only "lock up" a user's rep, not in any way increase/decrease it.

Now,if I may highjack this thread, but on that note,I suggest:

Rating comments up,or down.Like how "Auto Blog" does it.

Like, there's a star system, and stupid comments get ranked down, while positive or funny comments get ranked up.It's a good way to self-police stupid.

    What would that accomplish?

Everyone says stupid things on occasion, and overly stupid members tend to get banned over time already, so it just seems like an easy way to make AP a less fun place.
