Plenty of kids are stuck in their house studying, and going to recitals without ever having a chance of living like an actual person. You know, those kids that cried when they got a 95 on their exam? His parents are probably more to blame rather than he himself being born in the wrong time.

I honestly think that, just maybe, Naegi and all the other students did have a normal life at Hope's Peak Private Academy in a class together. But then something happened shortly, maybe a few days or a month later, and their memories were erased of them being in the same class.

The murder manages to unlock one of the locked doors, then he kills someone(with poison most likely) drags the corpse to the unlocked room, does something so that it appears that it was Monobear that killed and finally destroys the UNLOCKED ​door, bam done.

My best guess is that incident that happened one year ago involved our main characters in some way, maybe that is also related to why they don't have their memories of being together.

Maybe the start of the game happened before the incident and they had a normal life at the high school. Later the incident happened and they got their memories erased somehow.

Hagakure is slowly becoming my favourite character, next to Naegi and Ishida. He's just so upbeat or skeptic about everything, and I'm interested in hearing about his many "lawsuits", ha ha.

Out of topic, I've started a Phoenix Wright Let's Play recently on the SA forums, and orenronen (the creator and translator for the Dangan-Ronpa LP) is volunteering to do some updates from time to time that discusses localization differences between the Japanese and English version of Phoenix Wright, along with translating some game production notes from Capcom. He's a big fan of Phoenix Wright. If you like reading that kind of thing, I'd recommend you to go check for his updates during Dangan-Ronpa downtimes!
