Thread: 537: ''Protect Shirahoshi - Decken's Pursuit''

In the filler did Zoro do any attacks against Hody or did he just spend whole time before hitting the floor just deflecting Hody's attacks (except the trident butt to chest)???

If so then he still KO'd Hody with 1 attack, just Toei added in a little filler to take up time seeing as how close the anime is to the manga.

I may be wrong so please tell me if Zoro actually did do offensive attacks.

Edit: Oh and with the Trident butt to chest, did it seem to anyone else that Hody had like a "Soru" in the water, cause he sure got behind Zoro damn quick

537 was a great episode I thought. Part with Chopper n Sanji was awesome imo, I felt so happy for him.
Surprised how Decken can be so tough after beeing hammered (thought the same when reading), He's definitly a very funny caracter tho.

If that part wasn't included, it would have been fine to me.
Refresh my memory, what exactly did Hody do? Like.. push him underwater? It was a push I think, right? Come on. I don't think it's quite to the levels of Blackbeard punching Whitebeard in terms of lunacy. He's fighting a fish in water; he's at a disadvantage. Poor Toei just adds stuff and adds stuff and don't really think about the consequences. Look at last week. You can't fault them too hard by now.

As I said Trident butt to the chest!!! thats gonna hurt a lot.....

But yes Toei really needs to learn to plan ahead of the current episode, do they even read the manga???

The filler in 536 had Zoro doing several offensive attacks that were either dodged or blocked with Hody's trident.

    Spoiler:
Ahhh ok, i forgot they had the filler in that episode aswell, i thought they only had the attack from above water which Hody used a subordinate as a shield which i thought was in manga.

But thanks for informing me that I was wrong and Toei fails even more epically in my mind now, and I shall now never try to give a reason to why Toei stuffs up the actual story line of the series.

    GO TOEI!!!!!!

He hit Zoro in the chest with the end of his Trident and sent him hurling to the ground.

Sanji's scene was hilarious. Did not feel extended that much. I felt sorry for Chopper even and his desperate attempts to stop Sanji. Thought the rope was pretty funny, they could've portrayed it as comedic irony better if you ask me. It would've been just as funny as the audience suspecting Luffy of kidnapping Shirahoshi and then Shirahoshi actually appearing out of Megalo. I think Luffy is initiating Gear Second too much as well. For something that is suppose to affect his life span, he seems to use it without even gauging his opponent's strength properly. The Zoro vs. Hody scene was pretty irksome. I would have preferred Zoro dominating some of Hody's minions as a means to extend time on the episode.

Frankly, between having no anime for a while and having an anime whose original story is getting shitted by Toei ...I definitely prefer the first alternative. If hody's flashback and hody vs zoro is an indicative of wait us ahead, then it may be wise to stop watching One Piece once for all. Things were already getting bad, but now it seems that they're getting even worse. The difference of quality between the manga and the anime is just getting bigger... and- at least for me -watching the anime it's not as pleasant as it was before.
So,yeah...good luck and farewell,Toei...no more money for the next dvds.

This edited version was way more badass.

It will be very Lucasesque if Toei rereleases the whole series without fillers and higher quality animation.

I like it, they could even chuck in some other fillers from the episode when you said "some time passes"

In the anime Luffy's fight with Rob Lucci they mentioned it.

If only Zoro could be silenced when saying "Lion's Song," then that would've been the truest representation of the manga OHKO.

DBKai says hello...and even that series still had some bits of filler and only higher-ish quality animation (some of those redrawn scenes were just awkward as hell).

If I was directing I would have also made Zoro going underwater more epic(better music and animation). It was one of the most iconic moments of this arc and it felt so underwhelming in the anime.
The director makes me think that he did not read the manga.

Why don't they make filler episodes on the cover stories ? The Jango and Fullbody stories were freaking hilarious. I guess the audience only cares about the straw hats even with crappy fillers.

Looks like I'm one of the few who actually liked seeing Hody putting up a semi-decent performance in a fight for once.

This is absolutely beyond me as well. The CP9 cover story (for example) had it all: funny moments, character insight/development, even a battle they could depict in greater detail.

I actually liked the clash as well. Zoro blocking the water shots was badass.

Try find it in the manga, because everything said in the anime isn't necessarily true to the actual storyline
