And, what I think what Nami means by "Arlong Park and Saboady Park were similar" is that they both look somewhat nice from the outside, then you go in and it turns out that they both are holding dark, hideous secrets.

Also yes tint Arlong. I like how Oda draws Lil' Hachi the best, though.

I actually enjoyed this episode a lot for what it was. You guys may agree or disagree with me on this, but it was precisely these chapters that I felt dragged the manga far too much during this arc. I was happy that the anime rushed through those scenes in the beginning and spent more time on reanimating key scenes from Nami's flashback. The flashback itself is pretty good in the manga and I do hope the anime will flesh certain things out. It will allow the current manga arc to get ahead a bit if they spend a month or so on it. But what I really didn't like was the chapters right after the flashback that spent way too much time on the New Fishman Pirates, whom I only really like Hyouzo and Zeo in. I guess we'll see what the anime does with those episodes later on, but for now I say bring on the flashbacks.

There's going to be another hour-long crossover with Toriko in a few weeks. Apart from Tate coming back, I'm not that excited for it since the first one was pretty weak.

Good episode. I noticed that Toei added Sanji noticing that Luffy snakes Nami's tea, which I thought was a funny touch. I really didn't expect hot pink Fisher Tiger in the preview, though, I pictured him being a deep orange. Regardless, next episode should be good...

Do be fair, that's not entirely toei's fault. They're just doing the 1 chapter per episode pace and this chapter ends with them going into the flashback, though Oda did do a similar "stall" to the flashback.

Now here's to a good flashback. Tori hasn't failed me yet,even the Luffy flashback, though the one chapter per episode might have made some parts drag, I loved how they fleshed out the relationship between the three brothers. Even the old man filler was decent and wouldve been great if they took out the old man or maybe just didnt give him Conquerer's haki.

You have to remember how airing a long-running series works. Yes, most of us here are hardcore fans and we know One Piece inside out. But what about the casual viewer? Or, for that matter, new younger viewers who may have not seen the old episodes or read the older manga. That's why episodes like this are important. They re-familiarize the viewer with what's happened while properly setting things up for the flashback. What happened with Nami and Arlong is obviously very important for this flashback, and in all honesty, Oda didn't really spend enough time connecting the two. That is why I feel this is one of Oda's weaker arcs (which is saying something because it is not that bad of an arc by any means). I do feel the anime is doing a great job here. See, if they did an ENTIRE episode on flashing back to Arlong Park, then I would agree with you. But the flashbacks only took about five to six minutes of time, and an entire chapter of material was still covered, material that was rather weak from the manga source in my opinion.

I just feel that they took what was a somewhat weak chapter and helped better prepare us for the flashback. Now the setup is complete and we are set to head into this flashback. I'm okay with you disagreeing with me, but that is how I feel about these past few episodes.

Now, the whole thing with Zoro using Shishi Sonson is a different story. While I didn't particulatly care, I can see why some manga fanatics would be angry. They took their liberties too far with that one.

Oh yes, I forgot this chapter originally started with showing the Fishman and Fisher Tiger. Still, I think it ended at a fine place.

Jinbe didn't look like hell this time, hooray! Man I love Jinbe, I want him to join so bad! Good thing he will! And all this racial tension, it's thrown in our face so much, but still just thinking about all the real life instances Oda drew from it does hit me hard.

Gotta love Sanji standing up to Jinbe like that, I bet he could handle him.

He's actually pretty correct in that evaluation, but this isn't the thread for power level discussions.

I really enjoyed this chapter. In hindsight I didn't enjoy the fishman island arc that much, but the themes covered by this episode and the flashback as a whole are fantastic and extremely deep, considering they mirror stuff that happens in the real world.

But on the episode it was overall pretty good to the story line but a little boring to watch. Flashbacks were good I forgot that Arlong's laugh sounded as it did and for me just doesn't fit with his mentality.

And the similarities between Arlong park and Shaboady park are subtle with the emblems, the general shape of main building and the gates, Is what I can pick up in similarities

toei screwed up nami's flashback, the scene of bellemere and nami and nokji together was good ,but not her suffering. the music was not right ,they even didn't put the scene of OP 620 page 11 when nami was forced making a map while she was crying.
in the anime she was crying when she was thrown in her chamber,but for the rest was it a good episode with great animation quality.

Really enjoyed this episode, even with the amount of flashback. I think that was the nostalgia of it all, and seeing the redone scenes with the animation quality. Also, the baby Arlong crew was just too adorable!

The coming flashback better be AMAZING!
