Parents need to make sure their children don't play too much, of course, and if they not, then problems can arise (as happens a lot).
In my opinion, they aren't the sole cause of things like students shooting at schools etc, despite what many people think.
Everyone needs to find a good balance, otherwise, it can have disadvantages and negative effects.

    8. Both; Why? See above for how its good, its bad when it becomes an addiction.

    Hope that helps.

    1) Age: 20~30
    2) Yes.

    If Yes:
    1) 2~3 if I have time for it. (4~5 when I DON'T have time for it. XD)
    2) sometimes
    3) all kinds, but often RPGs, Fighting Games, & Platformers
    4) learn something new, relieves stress, pass the time.
    5) sometimes
    6) good way, because games allow me to experience worlds I might not have otherwise, in ways unlike any other. They influence my artwork, writing, and creative process, all in what I feel are positive ways.
    7) both. Now more than ever video games are an indelible part of modern culture, for better or for worse. Games are a completely unique and special interactive medium: the presentation of ideas through intelligent design, storytelling, and feedback can help a player experience things they never have before. Video games are capable of being artistic forms of expression, a new way to tell stories, gaudy grindhouse entertainment, and a mediums of new social interaction.

People communicate and form connections online through the shared camaraderie of gaming. People can use them to live vicariously through the actions of fictional characters. Designers can have their work come to life in a way hithertofore unseen, via direct interaction with a player. And they have the potential to communicate concepts unlike any other:

A social worker trying to get a troubled student to understand that bullying is wrong might use games to get through in a way that sticks: having the boy play Grand Theft Auto where he can act out power fantasies of complete freedom, control, and dominance... and then play Silent Hill or Resident Evil, where the boy's virtual avatar is at the mercy of creatures who threaten him - and helping him understand that loss of control to what bullying makes a victim feel like.

There are many emergent possibilities in video games that didn't exist prior to their existence.

But as with everything, there are pluses and minuses. Though there is no substantial evidence to suggest the linking of video games with violent behavior, it is true that video games can play as much as a role in the formation of aggressive behavior as television, or movies, but with the additional weight of actual interactivity (i.e. "you can watch Die Hard, but you can't pull the trigger for John McClane"). Parents can make the mistake of not carefully monitoring what their children are playing, and thus missing out on some of the important formative moments of their youth. Some games are made to encourage addictive behavior by design (Warcraft). There's a lot to consider, good and bad.

    5. No

Why? --- People have a choice in their own actions. So I don't think video games negatively effect me, by making me procrastinate. I make myself procrastinate. If there is any negative effect, it's that I spend all day sitting, which isn't good for me.
    7. Both
Why? --- Video games are existing in the same way arts forms of done so in the past. They bring out the best in people, and the worst in people. However, people's reaction to video games is far more society's movement, and not video game's movement. If video games have done anything, it's has created an experience where people of all ages can have fun.

there are things we can learn from videogames, physically and mentally and they are a source for entertainment. at the same time, I think kids play them too much. they need to get out and exercise and learn social skills.

    1) 23-30

    2) Yes

    IF YES:

    1) 3-4 hours a day

    2) Sometimes, usually whenever my best friend comes over or if my brother is up for it.

    3) All kinds, though my favorite genres are platforming, action/adventure and RPGs.

    4) To relieve stress, pass the time and have fun with friends.

    5) No, especially if you know how to keep those two (or three) worlds separate.

    6) In a good way. They help me unwind and work on my hand-eye coordination, especially platformers.

    7) In both good and bad ways, really. There are plenty of games out there (especially with the advent of the Wii) that you can enjoy with family; at the same time, and this is my personal opinion, I feel that the FPS genre, with the help of online multi-player, gave birth to a lot of unruly young gamers who enjoy hiding behind their television screens and spewing profanity and racist/sexist remarks into their headsets.

Why? - Well, I enjoy playing games, so when I'm having fun that's a good thing I'd say. I have been pretty busy with other stuff lately, so I don't think I've spent enough time playing games to really affect me much in any other way.
    7). Both
Why? - I think it really differs from person to person. Some people might hardly be affected at all, some might be affected in a good way, and some in a bad way. To be honest, though, I don think video games cause increased aggression (but I could wrong of course); when we're talking about bad effects I'm thinking more along the lines of people spending too much time to play games, causing them to not have enough time left to do things for work and/or school.

When I get into a game it's pure fun and doesn't come down on anything I've got going on. Most of the time I play with someone and that's just great.

    7. Both.

Games like Minecraft are increadible for creativity and can be used in schools to teach all sorts of things. Many games promote healthy social interactions and some improve ones abilty to work as a part of a team. However a lot of games today are meant to be addictive and can trap players in a fantasy world where things are simple and easy and where they can avoid dealing with reality, to an unealthy extent.
