Thread: 546: ''A Sudden Tragedy! A Bullet Seals the Future''

If it weren't for the end it probably wouldn't have been that great of an episode.
The scene with Manboshi and Ryuboshi dancing and singing to Shirahoshi while crying was what made the episode for me..

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks the colour scheme for practically all of the merfolk/fishmen are really dull?
I get that they're fish and don't have that great of a skin tone, but to me it brings down the quality of the episodes comparing them to the other characters..

I'm so happy with this episode. Every scene from the chapter was done justice. I teared up, though not as much as I did when I read the chapter.

Amusingly enough, I told a few people that the episode was good and they got annoyed that I spoiled the queen's death. We saw her GRAVE and learned she was assassinated before the flashback even began. Come on now.

Very good episode with good art. I didn't tear up though, mainly because these characters don't hit me like others, but it worked and I certainly felt the emotion.

As good as this flashback is, I think it should be ending next week. I would like to see the story move on now.

Really The Flashbacks where the best part of this arc what are you talking about i'm not really angry i just don't get it.
Unless you only like the manga and just pick some parts out from the anime but i can't get enough of OP so i just can't understand it.

There are some fans that seem to dislike flashbacks or any story segments that go without action. I met a die hard fan who says he hasn't seen any of the flashbacks before I was like wut how and he was like only watching for the adventure and skipped everything else

different strokes for different folks I guess lol

Beautiful episode, especially the second half. I actually very nearly cried at the end and that has not happened since the viking funeral of the Going Merry and Bon Clay's goodbye at Impel Down.
The soundtrack is what makes the scene for me, it really fits Otohime's passing. And damn, Fukaboshi actually looked THREATENING there for a second. It is not as much the animation but the raw intensity of the voice acting that made it believable. I'm overall pleased with the voice acting in this arc but this deserves special mention!

I teared up at the end. Seriously, this was a job well done by Toei.

    It was sad...
It seems the flashback will end on the next episode.

Wow.. very good episode. It was sad and very well drawn at the very least. I love the water-color, soft look to everything especially in the second half of the episode, the music choices were wonderful, too.

Anime only people have no right to complain because you can read the manga for free lol.

It depends if he reads it in the manga which means he can skip it in the anime lol.

He doesn't, lol. He literally has no idea about the backgrounds of most of the Straw Hats like Robin and Chopper. His loss.

Can I say that I cried like a baby? And I'm 24 years grown man.

Wonderful music choices, really well directed episode. (Who did it by the way?), great voice acting. Art and animation were good too.

    10/10

While Otohime's death in the manga didn't affect me, maybe the added music and animation will move me this time. I'll watch this later today...

How exactly does he fit the definition of "die-hard fan," then? Sounds like he needs to go back to Bleach and Naruto to me...

I guess the die-hard fan is just trying to have the "Luffy" experience.
Falling asleep or going on walks when a character starts telling the story (the flashback).

The flashback was pretty much the best part if this entire arc. Skipping it is considered sacrilege. Lol

On a serious note really good episode, can't wait for next week.

The ending didn't move me at all to be honest. Maybe because I knew what was coming, but I believe the manga did a better job at it. Sometimes less is more, I guess.

As for the rest, I didn't really enjoy the whole Fishmen Island arc, but Decken is just an awesome character.

"But I don't have any friends" - *derpface*

    Priceless.

This show rarely makes me cry, but this episode has me tearing up. Only other time I cried was Merry's funeral
