Whats with the terrible episodes lately, too many gags and apsolutely terrible timing for the sanji gag towards the end
****THE NICO ROBIN: ROKUSHIKI PROJECT****Go here (UPDATE 4/2/13)****THE HUAQUANDAO STYLE PROJECT*** Does my Rokushiki Robin project inspire you in some way?
Sanji's speech gave me the chills, similar to the one back at Enies Lobby. Well done Toei.
Oda, however, should be slapped for ruining the moment at the end.
does anyone know the name of the song that was playing when brook was explaing how he learned to make his soul move out of his body.
i know more about one piece than any one else
blah blah blah same ppl mindlessly defending one piece anime every week. some of us only watch the anime and don't know what is coming up because of the manga you know?
seriously, you can't have your own opinion in here without getting 30 lashes from a whip.
Nobody's mindlessly defending the One Piece anime every week. I'd like to think we look at it from a purely objective and non-biased perspective - at least that's what I've seen, anyway. Both Toei and Oda do their fair share of mistakes.
For the record, I do agree with you about the lack of advancement in this episode. I don't remember the manga chapter having that same ending with Luffy and Jinbe. Then again, I don't remember much about these chapters in the arc.
But hey.. whip lashes give ya a thick hide. Builds character.
Sanji was actually pretty BA in this, but I was pretty disappointed in the rest of the crew. After the Shaboady accident and losing his brother, I would have expected Nami and Chopper to understand why luffy has to go save them.
Seriously, weird Brooke flashback filler (or rather 95% filler), mostly since the anime makes it seem like "God" directly granted him the ability to leave his body. The added scenes with spirit-Brooke and Pappag were great though.
The stand-off between Jinbei and Luffy was better than I remembered. I think the only unnecessary thing is that Luffy goes Gear Second. Otherwise, it was just a brief exchange like it should have been. Though I did like the blank looks on Caimie and Shirahoshi's faces as he loses his marbles as if his lapse in sanity did not diminish the seriousness of the moment.
I sort of forgot that Sanji moment, making that speech and all. Don't mind him going insane at the end--he's still in rehab and relapses should be expected.
The episode was ok, overall. Nothing overly objectionable and the animation and art was par for the series.

Didn't remember that either, but it's apparently how Jinbe/Luffy conflict ended in that chapter: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/one_p...8/c629/12.html

Again, surprisingly, this is vaguely canon: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/one_p...8/c629/17.html
The scene with Brook and co. seemed to drag a bit more than it needed. But other than that, and ignoring Jinbe behavior, a good episode.
If anything, you'll find way more mindless bashing than "defending" here. People like to blame the anime even for things that happened in the manga too.

It's an interesting point that we tend to blame the anime for things that happened in the manga. Take, for example, this episode's Heart-Eyes Sanji moment. In the anime, it's a complete break with the Voice Actor and especially the music.
In the manga, it's this:http://www.mangahere.com/manga/one_piece/v58/c629/11.html
It's a background scene, kind of a quick laugh while you get back to the main plot. I'm not blaming the anime for this problem, but the different format does have a tendency to emphasize some rather minor things in the manga.
I will give the anime one thing here, the praying scene with Brook made me burst out laughing in the anime.
Why did it have to come out of his mouth so violently? For some reason that was funnier than it should have been.
I am unsure how I feel about the filler stating Brook's music was in a slump, but the scene was funny and didn't deviate to far from the manga.
Luffy VS Jimbei
Jimbei's 1st punch : This is my personal favorite part of the episode. The airwaves are cleanly animated and Luffy is sent bouncing multiple times backwards.
Luffy's jet whip: A new way to enter gear second, totally cool. The Animation was up to par, nothing to special though. I thought Jimbei showed more pain in the manga here than in the anime
The final collision : perfect
#agree
The brief fight was done pretty well but it's still bothering me that the anime makes Luffy go full Gear 2nd when it's obvious in the manga that he doesn't need to anymore. Concerning the rest of the episode I can't say that I was satisfied and or entertained. It might as well be that I'm already looking forward to the New World and therefore want to skip most of FI?

Good episode. The fight was done perfectly and the fillers were good placed.
The three-way (not the dirty kind) was epic.
Aw Jinbe just join :(
Implying Brook's character is unique at all. If he weren't a walking skeleton, he would be the most hated character in the series. Imagine his antics in any other body form.Brook may be a bit of a pervert but he's not Sanji-lite. :( I hope Toei will start writing out his unique character better in future episodes.
Brook is the worst.
