Thread: The LOST Rewatch Adventure! (Newbies Are More Than Welcome!)

    My favorite part.

Well as I began to watch the first episode I quietly hummed "three hour tour" as we see the air-wreck. I like the camera jumping the line of action to help with the confusion. How prepared Jack was... I kept thinking my fat ass would not survive this. Pretty intense first 20 minutes with the wreckage. I'm glad this is an hour because otherwise we wouldn't get a chance to let everything sink in.

The man with the orange and the color thread line made me laugh. I'm going to assume man of the orange plays bigger part later on, because they highlight him too much here.

Jurrassic Park flashbacks when we get to the plane scene. I'm really enjoying the mystery aspect of this. While Charlies, "Hey I'm Charlie" lines are funny... I don't like the character, does anyone else think he comes off as a druggie? I mean he is in a band.

    On to Episode 2

--- Update From New Post Merge ---

I liked episode 2 sooo much more than the first episode. The handcuff plot twist was awesome. But now I must watch episode 3.

    Nice call on Charlie!

But yeah, I'll agree that within the first 2 episodes, Charlie probably the least developed of the main characters. Outside of Sawyer who's all "mysterious and hawwwt." The quote is credited to every girl ever.

I'm gonna put season 1 on hold and catch up as fast as I can, as I don't know how long it will take for me to get it.
But I liked the "I just shot a bear!" line too.
And how he was so happy that it happened.

I would like to join this flight as well. Times like this it's good that I have the series set on DVD. I'll start watching tomorrow.

The Pilot is great. I remember watching it, I think in 2006, and I was so overwhelmed! Two-parters are always awesome in Lost, it feels like you`re watching a big, epic movie. It`s great to see all the characters so fresh and young. I remember watching this episode with a friend the first time and we just loved the orange scene. Funny, yet kinda creepy at the same time. We were already intrigued by Locke. Sayid wins best character in the pilot though, imho. So levelheaded and calm and likeable. Love the scene where he tells Hurley what side he fought on in the Gulf War. The Pilot has tons of great scenes, the first 10 to 20 minutes for example, or the trek to the front part of the plane (that scene feels like straight out of a horror movie, doesn`t it?). But the one that hooked me is the one at the end. Hearing the french transmission, everybody screaming at each other, having shocked looks on their faces, Sayid calmly trying to calculate how many years it has been playing in his head, Shannon translating the creepy message and then, Charlies question at the end: "Guys, where are we?" Perfect scene, always gives me goosebumps.

Tabula Rasa is a very cool episode, too. Very good introduction to the weekly flashback format. I wouldn`t say it is Kates best, but it just feels so fresh and new at this point. Kate and Locke are probably the biggest question marks at this point in the main cast, so it makes sense to give her the first flashback. The island story is cool. The first few episodes all deal with the general problems that arise when you don`t have any access to basic necessities, in this case medicine. It must be horrible for Jack to not be able to do anything to save the marshal and at the same time being in a constant risk to use up all the medicine they have, which already brings up interesting ethical questions. Sawyer can be an ass, but he is right when he talks to Jack and he does have the best intentions when he shoots the marshal. Still, try aiming at his head the next time, dude! Great scene, the marshal not dying from the gunshot and Jack then being forced to mercy kill him is a good end to the story line.

What was your reaction to the wheelchair reveal? Was it the moment where you fell in love with the show?

It was funny. I remember starting this show with my younger sister, thinking it was a normal show about a plane-wreck group of survivors.
The monsters and mysteries really surprised us.

Oh yes, Walkabout is really freaking fantastic. Both heartbreaking and happy at the same time, and it ups the mystery quite a bit.

I love it so so so much. And I also love Locke. But then, everbody loves Locke.

Like someone said earlier, the end part where they are listening to the french transmission and Charlie goes "guys where are we?" completely gives you goosebumps. One of my favourite parts in the whole series. BTW this is my favourite show ever.

    SPOILERS! DON'T LOOK SILVER!

    Spoiler:

It's so funny hearing them so casually just throwing "the others."
I also keep waiting for Ethan to pop up. I don't exactly remember when that happens.

Just finished up White Rabbit, another personal favorite of mine, simply because of the "Live Together, Die Alone" speech, and because I love Locke and Jack's conversation in the woods.

I kinda wished the episodes were in reverse order.

The concept of this being a supernatural island would be more gradually build up if we didn't get Locke's episode before.. There's been weird stuff happening since the first episode, but still had the possibly to be explained. Our earth has many large creatures.

But Jack's episode was still questioning the supernatural elements; is that a ghost? Or a hallucination. But before it, it was already confirmed. Iunno, it also strengthens the possibilities of both. Iunno. Dammit.

I still feel Jack's episode was more of a step down from Locke's.

AND DAMMIT, I wanna look at the spoilers tag.

Walkabout... That wheelchair reveal was just... oh my God I don't even.

White Rabbit was... Jack's episode? I don't remember a whole lot about it, so I can't really comment.

White Rabbit is the one where Jack chases his father threw the forest and we learnt hat his father's dead.

It's also the one were Jack lets a girl die to save Boone.

I might as well get into the series, I've heard many a good things about it, and a few not so good, mainly how it ends, but eh.
I most likely won't stay up to pace with the general newbie crowd, but I'll weave in and out of this thread maybe.

I literally know nothing except that it's about a bunch of people that are… lost… on an island. Watching the first episode now.

It ends great. Don't listen to the hate.

Long as you pay attention, the show treats you well. All reasonable questions are answered, and all characters have their stories resolved.

If you only sort of watch it, or just tune in for the last episode, then yeah the ending is a bust.

But the ending is great. So don't let that worry you along the way.
