Well let's post some songs of artists here that you believe don't get the love they deserve in here.

I'd like the format to be:

Genre: (Because it makes it easier to quickbrows throught he thread, also makes it easier to appreciate that hardmetal song when you know that it's one before you click the link.)
Songname - Artist: (Because Youtube has region specific blocks so interested can google themselves.)
    Link: (doesn't need explanation)
Comment: (If you want to write something about the song or the Band here.)

So when people can refrain themselves from posting stuff from foo fighters or similar popular bands I hope people can find some new interesting artists here.
    So I'll start of with...

    Rap/Rock

The Circle In The Square - Flobots

    Spoiler:

Well they're one of the few rap centric bands that I really enjoy. Without wanting to sound super pretentious I kind of enjoy
the added layer of political/worldy statements that they make within their songtexts. Somewhat similar to how Rise Against does it.

Songs? Man I have whole albums in mind.

    Hip-Hop
Boogiemonsters - Riders of the Storm: The Underwater Album

    Example Song

Greattttt production on this, the bass is amazing. And the atmosphere of the whole album is fantastic. One of the few genuinely psychedelic sounding rap albums. Nothing else quite like it.

Ballad of Oregon - River City Extension

I've posted this band over and over again because I do think they deserve more recognition than they get. Last time I checked they don't even have a Wikipedia page.

    Black Metal
Carrier of Wounds - Ved Buens Ende

    Black Metal
    Infinity of Ghost's - Whirling

I don't think metal in general is very appreciated around here, though there are a few people. Black metal is my current favorite so here you go.

This band is incredibly silly, crazy and catchy. They have a sense of musical humor and playfulness very reminiscent to Frank Zappa in my mind, though. This is one really fun gem of a prog band.

I checked them out when you posted them somewhere on the forums a while back. I haven't connected with the band as a whole but some of their songs are on the mindblowing level. :)
They do sound a bit Grand Wazoo to me.

    * Progressive rock? :S
    * Richard Lionheart - Hansson & Karlsson

This is some sort of early progressive rock, maybe, with drums and organ. The drummer, "Karlsson" in the band name, is acctually Janne "Loffe" Carlsson, an actor famous in Sweden. When visiting Sweden Jimi Hendrix jammed with them a couple of times, he also covered one of their songs.
The band split with "Loffe" starting his acting career. Hansson continued making music though and made his, probobly, most famous album "Lord of the Rings".

    * Proggressive rock
    * The Black Riders / De Svarta Riddarna / Flykten Till Vadstället - Bo Hansson

From the album "Lord of the Rings". A musical interpretation of J.R.R Tolkiens novel of the same name. Yeah, it's pretty psychadelic stuff. :)

    Innocent
    by Rage:

Comment: I just found/heard this band today while at pandora.com. At first I wasn't so sure, but, after more than 1 listen I started to really like, not only the song, but the band. They sound the same live as they do in studio.

    Genre(s): Alternative metal, power metal

    Fury by Machinae Supremacy:

Comment: I actually first heard a sample of this band while watching a "Let's Play..." video at youtube.com about...a month or so ago. They call themselves "SID metal", because, they use a SID chip from the Commodore 64 in some of their songs; but I just labeled them alternative--instead of SID--and power metal--which they are listed as as well.

Aww yeah, X-Legged Sally is great!

As for my own recommendations, Hammers of Misfortune is probably my favourite prog metal band ever

stellastarr* is a fun little indie rock band, nothing too amazing but really enjoyable to listen to.

Ganglians are a great psych pop band

Kent is an interesting and very diverse Swedish band that ranges from alternative rock to electropop

And of course I have to promote one of my favourite artists of all time, even though he's getting much more recognition lately.
It really doesn't get much better than The Mountain Goats, John Darnielle is, in my opinion, the best songwriter alive.

If you like Hammers of Misfortune I highly recommend Slough Feg. The singer from that song is the singer for this band. He left Hammers of Misfortune but is still with Slough Feg.

Here's something (completely different) from me:

Genre: To be honest, I don't really know what I should call this. Some kind of creepy folk-gospel-country-rock, but that makes it seem kinda different from what it actually is. At least I can say it's not Jazz, Hip-hop, Metal, Electronic music, Blues, etc. :P. Sorry for not being more accurate.

If anyone likes this, check out their first two full albums ("Black River Falls" and "Our Lady of the Broken Spine"), their later stuff is a bit different.

The singer of Machinae Supremacy actually sounds better live then in studio. But yeah, he does sound...odd at times; but I think it adds to the unique sound.

I see; well, I probably won't have a chance of seeing them live anytime soon, but I'll be sure to look for some more of their stuff on youtube.

Comment: Sad to say...the band is no longer around, they broke up in 2009. But, the material they did put out when together is pretty excellent. They were somewhat underrated in the power metal community, and the metal community in general, too.

Well well well. Really some good stuff in here. Especially on the metal side. Although I enjoy some metal songs with screaming parts I only do so in certain moods.
So I'm happy to find some new songs sung with a powerfull voice and really energic melodies.

The mountain goats song is also pretty nice it kind of hits my mood right now. Very peacefull and soothing.

    Rock n' Roll

    Umbrella - The Baseballs

    Spoiler:

They're a cover band that does take modern songs from a variety of genres and give them an old school(probably not quite the right term to use but you understand when you hear them) rock feel. They hit it off around europe with their umbrella (Rihanna) cover (I probably like their song monday morning more).
But they have lately sunk a little bit into oblivion although they've just released a new album last year. So if you're in a light hearted mood this song might be pretty entertaining.

Comment: This is just something. I mean, I'm pretty sure I love it, but I don't know if I should. Hopsin is finally starting to pick up steam as an artist (though you can tell he still does everything himself--especially in this video), and while most of his stuff is good to great, in my opinion nothing comes close to this.
I get that he's not going to be for everyone, but I urge you to check him out and listen all the way through.

The Life And Times of Peter Nelson-Copywrite

I feel like he epitomizes the word underappreciated in the hip hop community, as he rarely even has a strong cult following. And he should as on paper he's the perfect rapper (great delivery, flow, wit/wordplay, lyrics, rhymes) though he isn't without his flaws (he overloads some of his songs with wordplay and doesn't understand the concept of less is more, and has some filler) but the good definitely outweigh the bad by a fair margin.

Back on My Feet by Boom Boom Satellites:

Comment: First heard the band when watching the anime Xam'd. LOVED their song Shut Up and Explode, which was the first opening song, and decided to look up more of their material. I like them; pretty underrated too, outside Japan anyway.

Genre(s): Melodic death metal, progressive metal, power metal

    Morphogenesis by Scar Symmetry:

Comment: I absolutely LOVE this band. A melodic death metal band from Sweden--like normal--that, though not really underappreciated, IS underappreciated to other melodic death metal bands like In Flames, Amon Amarth etc. In my opinion, they are just as good if not better than some of the top names in melodeath.

    Spoiler:

A really unusual band. Haven't found anything else like that yet. They do catchy rock songs mixed with chiptunes, I like them!

    PS:
I also think it's better to put the videos in spoiler tags to make loading the pages a bit faster for browsing. Going to reedit my earlier posts.

Irish shoegaze stuff that's got just the right amount of edge and hooks. The album this song is off of, Submarine, is orgasmic front through back.

    Teenage Fanclub - Neil Jung

    Spoiler:

Comment: Teenage Fanclub is actually well-known within the power pop genre. This is more a case of the genre in itself not being very cool anymore, so a lot of bands aligned with this sound go undiscovered.

This band has a really weird vibe to it. Crazy was the only song I could find on youtube which is kind of okay. If the sound ist interesting listen to twilight on their myspace site http://www.myspace.com/plasmach which is probably my favourite.
