Characters that troll the entire cast and break the fourth wall without making the reader feel trolled. like Ansh'in-san and Kumagawa from Medaka Box.

I am the Walrus!
Black and homosexual(-like) men; no freaking lie. I also love the crap out of stereotypical strong-as-balls old men, and extremely wise, Yoda-esque old women.
When the hero doesn't end up with the fated love interest from his childhood, but with the new girl he fits so much better with
Reminds me of a great quote I saw once on /a/:
I for one am pleased by the recent trend of Japan completely and totally crushing the hopes of girls that fall into the "If I love him for years and years and devote myself to him, he'll HAVE to fall in love with me!" idea. Now granted I'm no harem series expert, but from my experience it always seems to loop back to the childhood friend, or the girl he promised to marry when they were kids, etc.But usually the childhood friend never wins and the MC falls head over heels for the new hotness
-A group of notable individuals( Shichibukai,Supernovas,Yonkou etc...)
- Gentle Giants
-Shonen series with a female protagonist
- Big Guns
-Villains in a Horse
-When battles are not decided purely by power levels, and another factors like strategy come into play (HxH is the best at this)
-When an until then all mighty villain meets his match, and his reaction after seeing that someone can keep up with him (you know, Enel face and stuff). If it ends in a villainous breakdown it's ok, but only when they're done well (Rurouni Kenshin was really good at this)
-When useless characters find a purpose or something they can be good at
-When we finally get to see a flashback we have been waiting for long time (E.g. Robin in OP)
In an alternate universe where JoJo's Bizzare Adventure doesn't exist, perhaps? When battles are not decided purely by power levels, and another factors like strategy come into play (HxH is the best at this)
When a superhumanly skilled main character really stands out because the rest of the series is grounded in reality.
Golgo 13. Always Golgo 13
I often like when anime is
Seriously, over the top AWESOME makes everything better.
Depends on the mood really.
I like the stories where the underdog overcomes obstacles that where told he could never overcome.
I also like hardcore fighting manga's with abillities and the fights are just epic.
Shows that make me want to pick up whatever skill the heroes use
Not really no. But i played american football for a few seasons after i watched eyeshield 21, and i got pretty into cooking after watching cooking master boy.
Didn't really take with yakitate japan, but that's mostly because i don't have an oven in my apartment
