Ah. New page :D
Time to post some from one of my all time favorite PSX games from one of my favorite composers too. Valkyrie Profile. I like how the background music for each area isn't typical fantasy or the type of stuff you usually hear for certian kinds of areas. If you played Star Ocean:The Second Story and remember a track called "KA-MA-KA-ZE" playing in some psedo high tech mansion at the end of Disc one, you can say that most dungeons in Valkyire Profile have that same exact powerful feeling with music that would otherwise feel out of place in other games. It's just a unique and varied arrangement and it is one of Sakuraba's most consistently great works. I can go on for days about VP.
Now for a select few songs. It was hard to choose, seeing as my list is huge.

Songs I listened to this week and wanna share:
Robotic Fantastique (Return All Robots!) - A fun song with interesting instrumentation. Composed by zircon, which is always good news.
Spoiler:
The Prince's Adventure (For the Frog the Bell Tolls) - A happy little chiptune(aka 8bit). It's really cute and fun.
Spoiler:
Whoa I'm in Space Cuba (Mighty Switch Force!) - Really electronic song with a nice melody.
Spoiler:
365 Days of Pointy Hats and Magic (Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry) - Really strangely cute song with happy and almost-impossible-to-clearly-interpret vocals, including some sung by kids. It's one of the happiest things I've ever heard. Definitely a new favorite.

One of my all time favourite soundtracks as a whole. Those three games were a staple of my childhood.
Don't worry, be happy~
Kingdom Hearts:
Spoiler:
Ok I'm kind of sick by now that they always remix this song but I really loved it back when I finished the first Kingdom Hearts.
Okay sure this one ISN'T video game music, but it does have the vibe of old style video game music...

I know right. Some tracks give me de-javu. Sunslammer or instance.

I was bored and browsing VGMdb (the Video Game Music database) and looked up the Gravity Daze OST. I like the soundtrack and decided to check out the composer's other stuff and I found One Piece in his discography!
The guy who does catchy ish like:

Not sure if I missed it but looking through the thread very quickly there is one soundtrack that's absolutely noteworthy.
The soundtrack of a little game called bastion which is just mindblowingly awesome.
Spoiler:
I had a dream about this song and listened to it all day.

Aliens versus Predator

It's the usual orchestra kinda deal I guess, but it fit very well with the atmosphere in the game. I got so scared there in front of the computer in the dark with the blips from the motion tracker and the aliens and this music. Ack, memories. :')
I always loved Penumbra's music tracks, especially the themes.

Also, Sword and Sworcery. Beautiful music for a beautiful and unique game that made me cry.

Yep. I find Bastion to be one of the better soundtracks released fairly recently. I'm loving that it's getting a lot of love even from non-VGM nerds, which is a big step for indie game music.
Also I think I finally decided that this is the best JRPG battle theme ever. After listening to literally hundreds of them and going through like 20 years worth of JRPGs, it's the battle theme from Grandia II.
Spoiler:
I recently marathoned all the Metal Slug games at 100%. Including replays to see all the routes. I love music some of these levels has. Here's several of my favorites.

Just bought Kanto Symphony, which is an album of orchestral renditions of the Pokemon Red and Blue soundtrack. It's really good.

What's that sound...
Spoiler:
I've been listening to Total War Shougn: Fall of the Samurai's OST while reading Rurouni Kenshin, it fits pretty well since the game takes place during the period preluding the Meiji period pretty much.
Here's a playlist:
