    via Saban Brands press release:
Saban Brands to Launch Vortexx on The CWBrand-New National Kids Television Programming Block will
deliver high-impact action, exciting adventure and laugh-outloud
comedy, premiering on TVs everywhere, Saturday, Aug. 25
LOS ANGELES (July 12, 2012) – Saban Brands wants kids everywhere to step into
Vortexx, a power-packed broadcast television and online destination for action,
adventure and comedy entertainment that was unveiled today. Vortexx brings all new
energy to Saturday morning television with its new five-hour programming block on
The CW Television Network. Vortexx will launch with online (www.myvortexx.com
coming soon) and mobile offerings making Vortexx available to kids whenever and
wherever they are. The television premiere of Vortexx on The CW Television Network
    will be Saturday, August 25.

“Vortexx will be an entirely new platform for action-adventure fans. It will give them
more of what they want on TV and online than any other source,” said Elie Dekel,
President, Saban Brands. “Vortexx will be the new maverick in kids entertainment -
delivering a high-energy entertainment destination that delivers action and comedy
    unlike any other.”

Vortexx will be a multi-platform entertainment brand destination that engages kids
through well-established properties, and provides them with a single source for
entertaining content, activities and more. The nationally-broadcast channel will be
anchored by key franchises such as Power Rangers and Yu-Gi-Oh!, in addition to other
marquee, soon-to-be-announced action/adventure and comedy shows. The brandnew
programming block will air on all CW affiliated stations nationwide, Saturday
mornings from 7 a.m. to noon.

“Vortexx will have the shows that our audience knows and loves, with a mix that is very
different from anything else – a programming lineup that features electrifying
moments of action and humor, and stories that feature characters that are larger than
life, but also very relatable,” said Dekel. “And when you consider the fact that Vortexx
will be so much more than a broadcast outlet – delivering what kids want online and
on mobile 24/7/365 – this new entertainment venue represents something very
exciting for brands and advertisers interested in reaching this audience across 114
million households on-air, and more online and on mobile.”

The announcement of Vortexx, which took place today at San Diego Comic-Con
International, continues Saban Brands’ dramatic growth since reacquiring the Power
Rangers property in 2010. About to celebrate its 20th season, Power Rangers is the
    brainchild of Haim Saban.

Isn't this like the 3rd or 4th Kids Block they've had since Kids WB went away?

I may get flamed to hell for suggesting this... But Could other companies lend (Such as Funimation) anime (Such as One Piece) for Saban to air on The Vortex?

I know they would be inevitably censored, but it COULD be good in the long run! More anime on TV is always a good thing.

And besides, with Saban on board, the censors may on be as bad as they were when 4Kids was the owner of the block.

(And yes, I know the Saban Syndicated DBZ censorship was a bit ridiculous, but Funimation eventually admitted they edited much more than was actually needed)

I don't know why I would think most people would be inviting to see what crazy stuff would get edited out of any anime they'd show on that block no one thought 4Kids could top themselves after the BS they pulled with One Piece then comes along DragonBall Z Kai with it's Blue colored man servants and sparkles.

    Saban allowed Impalements and stuff.

Honestly, Mr. Popo could offend some people in of a certain culture. In Japan that shit is okay, that's not always true elsewhere. Instead of getting upset over an edit to a free version of a show, respect the reasons why they did. The only real crime is that the edit's technique was so bad.

Also I found a website that list all the edits to DragonBall Z Kai edits. Maaaaaaan, people love to nitpick and whine over the simplest edit. A lot of the dialogue sounds is more natural in the TV cut. Couple of seconds here and there isn't really that bad, especially when they have uncut DVD out and ready for people who have to have it exactly like the original way.

I think One Piece would be great with Vortexx. Edits and all. It would give the show so much more exposure.

Just to remind you guys, 4kids was never 100% to blame for edits. Remember, the shows are checked by the network themselves so if the network says black Popo is offensive (which it isn't) then he gets turned blue.

But it WAS 4kids who edited him to conform to those standards. They could have just removed his lips or something other than...what they did.

    I could if

    A. It was legitimately necessary.
    B. Didn't look so stupid.
    C. If DragonBall Z hadn't been airing for years with Popo's appearance not being altered along with pretty much nobody giving a damn about it.

I mean if Popo were actually Black and had been stereotyped in the way Blacks have typically been stereotyped in American culture I could understand them doing what they did.
    But that wasn't the case.

I have no problem with the edits at least not the ones that were in the Nicktoons version.

No, when the higher ups say the color of his skin could be taken as offensive 4kids has no choice but to edit it. Honestly I don't know what was the networks doing or what 4kids took the initiative on. But after reading an iama by a 4kids worker I can honestly say that majority of these decisions are not 4kids fault and I'm not just talking about mr.popo.

Basically vortex has a chance of being better than 4kids ever was packaging wise and by what they choose to air. But as far as edits go its the same deal maybe slightly better

Edit: about the mr Popo edit I call bullshit on editing him because it could be viewed as racistbut it's not as ridiculous as when that dark skinned person from buggy pirates was edited, that's like ironic racism or something.

This, this is what I meant.

Also, its sad that they cant have Mr Popo be black. I REALLY want to see the BS&P's notes for DBZKai to see if editing his skin was really needed.

I DO know it was the CW who had him edited, but 4Kids never told us to what extent.

It's so sad because mr Popo was just a black colored person like piccolo is a green colored person and no kid in the world is going to think otherwise. Is a parent saw mr Popo and said "racism!" as anything more than a joke than theyre looking in the wrong place for it, I suggest very old American cartoons.

But what kind of offended me was the change in one piece I refered to in my previous post. Like someone told me basically theyre saying that no black people are allowed on this show (if that was even toei animations intention) which is way more offensive than just leaving it alone.

    Yeah, it really IS sad.

Like I said, all that had to be done is removing his red lips,(The only thing that made Mr. Popo Resemble a Blackface)

    I cant believe BS&P sometimes.
