Frankly, I am surprised that this thread wasn't made yet. I thought it was a major enough event to have one by now.

And yes, I know the opening ceremony is two days away from now, but the games have technically already started with Women's Soccer Football (and Men's Football tomorrow). I have no idea why.

So, are you looking forward to any specific event or athlete? Do you pretend to follow all the events (even if some of them don't exactly interest you at all)?

I focus on soccer/football, basketball, swimming, and most of the track and field.

I watch gymnastics, biking and volleyball for the hell of it.

I just like watching the Olympics to see if Britain actually gets anything.
I would say 'hopefully we'll do good this year what with a home crowd and all' but...

I cant imagine any more boring place to hold summer olympics than UK...well besides Germany perhaps. Beijing was nothing short of awesome and that opening ceremony was so overboard and amazing that it alone it made it worth watching... of course there was some heavy propaganda/PR touch on entire games propably most since Berlin olympics at 1936 but I still enjoyed them.

Have been watching the soccer matches today, the games were enjoyable and Brazil is winning right now which I'm glad about.

The football competition in the olympics is a joke, especially the mens tournament.

I look forward to the handball competition, we got silver last time hoping for a good result this time around as well!

I always enjoy watching the runners, especially the baton pass and the short sprints.
