Why is this arc so horrible if it represents a much-needed Straw Hat Curbstomp arc?
The only good thing about this whole arc is that is coming to an end slowly but steadily.I mean this episode was really boring, probably because I already know what's gonna happen but not only because of that.I must admit that the Hordy chase part was well animated and the animation in general in the episode was really solid. But still the part with Shirahoshi swimming felt way to long and the Princes parts made me feel annoyed as hell. But anyway as I said the good thing is that in 10-15 episodes this arc is ending and then good stuff are coming.
I agree. I normally find no reasons to bitch, but to show 20 secs of flashback that happened five minutes ago, and have Shirahoshi re-explaining things from 7 minutes ago...sigh.
Some of the animations were pretty solid though -- Luffy falling underwater, Hody zooming around to and fro, etc.
Another very good episode. The animation in particular was consistently well-done, though it dipped a bit near the end. Art and direction was well done as well, which helped particularly in the action sequences and some of the more menacing and suspenseful scenes. Decken is again a real highlight. Love that voice-actor.
Don't entirely agree with complaints on pacing of this one. It was more consistent than last week's in that regard. Yeah, the 1 chapter pacing isn't ideal (to say the least), but it's not something the animation team can do anything about until the anime gets more slack regarding future available manga material.
Funimation's translation sounded a bit odd at times with one glaring foul up: "Go up! There are too many obstacles up here!" Obviously it was suppose to be "down here."

Crappy episode that had some good parts. But what stood out for me was that horrible flashback of less than five minutes earlier, and the fact that they didn't even bother to animate that Van Der Decken threw those knives. It was just a different variety of pan shot. Oh, and Sanji's legs looked really weird during the Gomu de L'Air Shoot, which didn't help either.
The Hody battle scenes were animated decently, but that's pretty much all that was good about it.
It was a pretty good episode, Luffy V.S Hodi continues to be an amazing fight, glad they keep up with the good animation with that.
Decken, poor sap worse than Sanji when it comes to woman :P
Luffy fan.
LuffyxHancock or LuffyxNami? I can't decide.
Great episode. Not much else to say this week beyond that.
Although, I thought this back in the manga as well, but what the hell is Hody thinking? Why does he want to drop a giant boat on Fish-Man Island after he was talking about taking it over? He must be some kind of retard.
Also, I couldn't help but feel like he was talking about himself and not humans about weaknesses and whatnot. Fine, I'll give him that Luffy is weak in the water for obvious reasons, but the pussy just got his ASS handed to him on LAND, so I'd say the score is 50-50 and that he was a weak bitch on land where Luffy was overpowering him. His logic makes no sense at all.
Any raws out yet?
Oda got trapped writing-wise.
People didn't want Fishman Island to be a curbstomp arc, it was hyped for years upon years.
But there was nowhere Oda could really fit in a curbstomp arc because of the placement of certain islands, so he had to make it on FI.
People, moderators included, wanted Fishman Island to take at least 2 years (100+ chapters) and be One Piece's best arc. But we're about to get One Piece's best arc with either Punk Hazard or whatever's coming up with Big Mam so it doesn't really matter, water under the bridge for me.

Great episode this week. The underwater battle scenes were intense and looked pretty good in HD, both art and animation-wise.
I was a little bit surprised this episode's violence was somewhat intact, in comparison to the previous episodes. Plenty of blood where there needed to be (including decapitated fish heads spraying blood). Never quite got why it's okay to show more extreme violence towards animals, but not humans...
Okay episode but the filler scene with the burst bubble was annoying. It wasn't shown in the manga what happened between Luffy and Hody's encounter and Fukaboshi rescuing Luffy, so there's that, but I still believe that Luffy wasn't at the verge of drowning in the respective chapter.

It wasn't so much that he was on the verge of drowning as he was a devil fruit user suddenly completely in the ocean when his bubble popped. Luffy said himself that just his arm leaving the bubble for an attack is weaker as soon at it stretches out of the bubble into the water.
They seem to be rather inconsistent with things though. Fukaboshi was originally shown to be much larger (compared to when he and his brothers were seem with Madame Shyarly) and I doubt Ryuboshi and Manboshi just happened to have extra swords close by to replace the ones destroyed by Hyouzou and Daruma.
An angry Dragon may eat you, but an an angry Woman is truly dangerous
Spoiler:
God, could people get any whinier? It was a decent episode. Maybe there were a couple of bits that dragged a little - like a whole 20 seconds here and there. Goddamn, guys, stop acting so spoiled. Let me just say that from the perspective of someone who only just watched all the episodes in a row, it's a good enough arc so far. Better than Alabasta, that's for sure.
Y'know what? Here's a tip for next episode: Go watch a shitty anime. Then watch One Piece. You'll enjoy yourself and the thread won't be full of whine. (Without cheesse and crackers, even. Savages!)
This aired at the end of the episode.
And since when aren't people allowed to voice their opinion anymore? If there's something about the episode that I don't like then I'll write it down. Simple as that. I'm not one of those persons who will accept everything the anime's giving us and even praise it. Like I said before, some parts were nicely done whereas others weren't.
