I just got finished watching it (couldn't watch it yesterday cuz I was working) I thought it was a great start to the series.

I like how Sky almost went there with the Spiderman quote but instead said "with great power comes....a whole bunch of other scary crap that you won't understand" (or something along those lines).

Coulsons death is definitely more mysterious now

Well there's the Life Model Decoy theory, mainly becaise Tony said it to him earlier in the movie.

But me... I like the theory that he's Vision. He just doesn't know he's an android. It would make sense considering Ultron is the villain in the second Avengers movie. And, it also fits the episode, considering how quickly and well he dodged the car door.

Welp, this show got a 4.6 and is the highest premiering drama in 4 years. Guess I shouldn't expect the problems I have with this show to be fixed anytime soon with such a huge incentive to keep settling for mediocrity.

Glad there's some mystery to Coulson at least. I hated the simplicity of Fury just "faking his death".

This show's ok. Too many Coulson one liner charm trying to carry the series. I don't get what the big deal about the asian chick was. She just got thrown and did nothing that ep. The black guy was a pretty bad actor though.. I almost laughed when he tried to give ominous "I'm a hero and you're the bad guy" lines.
But it's ok. I didn't expect it to be fantastic.

That was the point. She said she didn't want to be in the field again, but she got pulled in "to be the pilot," so she was specifically staying on the sidelines by choice. We know she used to be a big shot, but for now why she retired from her position is a mystery.

Oh wow after quickly looking up what who vision is... that seems a rather radical reimagining(judging by the wiki) of the character.
I guess if it turns out to be true his powers will be a bit more limited?

Nice but the cast other than Coulson needs development, stat. And more SHIELD tech, please.

Dude, it's only the first episode. Give them more time to develop the cast.

It was...okay. A bit bland in terms of style and characters. Coulson was great, the rest of the cast is meh. I kinda hate Sky. At times, she can be charming and endearing, other times...like where she tells Gunn to go have sex with the woman he saved or kicking a random civilian in the balls to involve three more civilians to get in a fight with a deranged superhuman...

If I really have to bitch about something, I hated that scene with Cobie Smulders and that random doctor going "He doesn't know?" "He can never know!" It was so staged and cliche and over the top dramatic. Let's hope we won't be getting any more of those kind of scenes.

I really liked the theme of the episode, it was well written and an interesting look on what it means to be a super hero. The writing of the story itself...? Eh, needs work.

It was only the first episode so you can't really call this show a fail or pass but from the first episode, I wasn't blown away.

I'm also not totally blown away but I'm just thrilled to be able to watch a Whedon show unfolding live. :D

Some things I didn't like. A couple of clunky lines and the flying car in the end.

Most of it was enjoyable though:
I was fooled by the fake-out of Mike getting shot. I was really mad at Ward for a couple of seconds.
I enjoyed J. August Richards' speech in the end a lot. That was a good way to show what this show will (probably) be about.
Ron Glass! I hope he will be back every now and then.

So yeah, looking forward to more character moments in the episodes to come. And more handy gadgets!
Just something fun I made during the latest Survivor playing as Monji:

I mean the way Coulson picked her and the other dude noticing how Coulson had something planned for that mission lead me to believe she would contribute something to the mission. One of those "I'll come out of retirement just this once, do something badass then stay on the team" kinda things.

But...but TLC, surely you must unconditionally love the episode!??!! I mean, its Marvel! If you don't, you'll fry the minds of the poor APF userbase!

So, when exactly is this thing set? Undefined time post-avengers?

Post-Avengers, but I don't think it's too long after. From the way they're talking it sounds like the world is still very shaken by the battle of New York and the reveal of superheroes.

Also after IM3 because they're familiar with Extremis so at least 6 months after Avengers.

That was a good premiere. very balanced in humor and action and light and dark. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of show this ends up being.

    Spoiler:
I don't know if it's possible considering the budget of the series but did anyone else get the feeling the big bad oragnization behind the centipede thing will create Red Hulk at some point? Since they seem to be mixing gamma radiation with extremis (which give fire abilities), they could use this to introduce the character in the movieverse.

Meh episode(s). Never truly watched any Whedon's shows before so I'm unfamiliar with his style. It's like ... hey look, there's two quirky young scientists, a female person who's like all sassy, then there's the tough man, and the reluctant agent. And when the superhero dude started to turn evil, the writing, or the performance, was just bad.

I'll keep checking it out for Coulson, really. I much prefer that one-shot where Coulson beats up a few goons in a store. Proffered the vibe. This just seems like a downgraded Avengers.

So watched the second episode, I still enjoy this show quite a bit. God did the last two minutes make me laugh.
The one thing I have a real gripe with is the way it's shot.
Now I'm no expert in cinematography but after seeing the stuff that's been done in hannibal or breaking bad or a few other shows, man does it feel sloppy, the way scenes change perspective, camera angle... I don't know it makes it hard to follow at times.
