    Default Music in 2017

Just over a week until 2017 and we already have some albums that have leaked. Figured I'd start the thread for discussion of the leaked albums and discussion of things people are looking forward to in 2017.

The XX and Xiu Xiu both had their albums leaked. Xiu Xiu's album is pretty good. St. Vincent and Vampire Weekend both have albums coming out in 2017 so looking forward to those. Nine Inch Nails might have a new album coming out too and they have announced an EP so far.

Incidentally, this year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest years in rock music history: 1967. The year that brought us the debuts of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Velvet Underground, and Pink Floyd, as well as Cream's "Disraeli Gears", The Who's "The Who Sell Out", Love's "Forever Changes",The Moody Blues' "Days of Future Passed", Something Else by the Kinks, The Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" and, of course, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

So if you haven't yet become acquainted with some of these classics, well, no better time to do it.

Gonna list other good albums from 1967

    Scott Walker - Scott
13th Floor Elevators - Easter Everywhere
Captain Beefheart - Safe As Milk
Jimi Hendrix actually released two albums in 1967, Axis: Bold as Love being the other one
The Beach Boys - Smiley Smile
There was also a collection of Hindustani classical recorded in 1967 called Pakistani Soul Sessions which is really good

Yeah, great year. Hopefully 2017 is also a great year.

A few more things confirmed for 2017:
Mount Eerie is releasing an album, his first one since after his wife died
Diet Cig have confirmed their debut album for spring
St. Vincent confirmed her album, which is going to be self produced, for spring
I think LCD Soundsystem has an album confirmed, but not sure about a release date
Ween just reformed last year so we might get an album from them
New Bonobo album releases later this month
    New Flaming Lips album too
    Cloud Nothings
    Japandroids
    The Jesus and Mary Chain
    Arcade Fire
Bjork mentioned working on a new album too

There's some from some older bands too.

1967 also brought the birth of Steven Wilson which is clearly very important to me, lol.

It's also marked as the beginning of the band Chicago and they consider this their 50th anniversary.

Jens Lekman and the Shins both just announced new albums recently, with new songs.

Dirty Projectors have also released two songs, but no album announcement yet.

So I got the new Flaming Lips album. As you might expect, it's nothing that special, but it does have one song, Sunrise (Eyes of the Young), that feels like something straight out of their 90's material. That alone makes the whole album worth it for me.

New St. Vincent single. Weird choice for a single but it's pretty good. Not sure if it demonstrates the change in sound she was talking about initially though, outside of this song not having any guitar on it.

Couple new Alvvays songs along with an album announcement.

Edit: Thread's not moving quick enough. Bjork just tweeted that her new album will be out soon. Still no name, cover, or single though.

Despite some of the proglodytes whining about the lack of virtuosic shredding and 15+ minute songs, I think the new Steven Wilson is pretty fab.

Perhaps Todd's most recent video can shed some light on it.

I gotcha now. So, basically she is trying to have "revenge" towards the media and others, but she did it in a poor way. I don't really pay attention to gossip and all that, as I don't care about people's lives, but I can see how it ties in with her new song. Though from what I heard of the song in the video, it did not sound bad to me..... but I'm weird, as I try to enjoy for what it is, and I'm not picky with my music choices. (I try to have a wide range of music to listen too, and of course there are ones that stick out for me.) But regardless, I do understand about the flaws that was pointed out in this video. Anyways, thank you for sharing it! :3

St. Vincent's new album is out. I'm only a few songs in but it's much better than I was expecting. I had a similar feeling about her last album but it was a lot worse for this album from listening to the released singles. Still not crazy about the album cover though.
