I'm kinda wishing 5 and 6 get the same treatment as the DS remakes of III and IV.

Just a reminder, the Wii shop closes permanently at the end of the month. So, if there's anything you want to get on it, or you have stockpiled points, now's the time to do it.

Most of the things worth getting you can still get on disk, or have been on other systems and compilations already, on the SNES classic or Steam, or will make their way to later storefronts like the Switch eventually, but... there may be a thing or two that doesn't come around again.

To support Viz hosting all Jump manga for FREE and day of release, Arlong Park will now support the official release.

Official chapter discussions now start Sundays at Noon, EST.
Please do not post threads when scan sites release their version, and just discuss those releases in the spoiler thread.

Am I the only one who wants a Zelda game where there is a foe so ridiculously strong that Link and Ganondorf have to unite? I mean they do it with Mario and Bowser sometimes..... well only in RPGs but still

    Nindie Direct tomorrow.

Not the full January direct most were hoping for, but it's something.

Any interesting thing out of the nindies? Or the full list with a shor sumary of what it is? Only Wargroove and SteamWorld Quest, and Goat Simulator I'd guess, show up.

Aw, lame (but then again, I had thought they had already shut it down years ago, color me surprised!). I hate how there's so many titles that don't overlap between what was on the old Wii Shop Channel and on the Wii U eShop. A game like Zombies Ate My Neighbors would have benefited greatly from the Save Point feature of the Wii U and 3DS. Apart from that, though, only a Bonk game or two might have been on my list to get, but if I haven't already gotten it, probably not going to lose any sleep over it (come to think, I already did get Super Bonk). At least they did bring back the Donkey Kong Country games (and DK64). But nothing is quite as galling as the fact that the Switch eShop doesn't feature the same Virtual Console titles as the Wii U or 3DS.

Here's a question: If your credit card for whatever reason doesn't work for loading money on the various eShops, and there's no way the old Wii Shop point redemption cards are available, do eShop cards work for the Wii Shop Channel as well?

Surprisingly hard to find a summary, and I'm not watching the whole video. This is the best I found. Guess that shows how much everyone cares.

I found the list on siliconera, and the short gameplay snipets on the nintendo channel.

Not in the mood to write a review, but I liked Wargroove and the punk rock rythm runner thing, double kick heroes. Inmost and CrossCode have promise. Forager looks cute and I kinda need to protect those beets now. No interest on Goat Simulator (Sorry Wagomu), Not-Slay-The-Spire Steamworld game, and Unrully Heroes (that looks and feels like my master's game, if we got to polish it), and no fotage of the skylifts game.

As much as I like rhythm games I'm not into that music selection. As for Inmost, despite loving puzzle/adventure games (and platforming), the aesthetic means I'll pass. They're doing absolutely everything they can to showcase how dark and edgy and tragic it is. No thanks.

    Nope .

My old Hot Take that the Nintendo Switch is actually the Wii again--massively overhyped with very few games and too underpowered for staying power--sure seems to be doing ok. Like, what do we still have on the near horizon now that Metroid's off the table for a few years?

(speaking as a Switch owner who has enjoyed the few original games for the system he's played but largely been underwhelmed)

I guess Retro Studios wasn't available at the time because they were too busy on...whatever they were doing at the time, but at least Retro Studios is on the game now.

And who were originally working on Prime 4?

  17. #737

Default Re: The New Nintendo Thread™

I repeat my impression, Better late Retro's Metroid Prime 4, than sooner Bandai Namco's Metroid Another M.

Rumors, or low key annoucements said that it was Bandai Namco who were developing it.

Scrapping a complete game sounds extremely drastic, how sub-par was it going to go and admit "restarting", instead of transfer, or re-focusing?

--- Update From New Post Merge ---

This is a Pokemon gen 8, Fire emblem and Animal Crossing year, while silent on all of those dates, they are scheduled for this year, that is not a lean year.

Also, this forces their hand for trilogy remastered prime.

If three games is not a lean year, then...yee.

Guess we can throw Yoshi in there too?

Three games in a year is quite a big deal in my opinion if they turn out to be good.

Would there be a point in having 10 games and all them being like Fallout 76?

--- Update From New Post Merge ---

And most people will be playing Smash Ultimate all year anyway.

I think it was an internal Nintendo team.
