A thoroughly enjoyable World Cup. Had surprises waiting around every corner.

    Congrats to the deserved winners!

France surely deserved it considering the teams they won against in the knockout stage (with no extra time!), even though in this particular game they had problems at the start. Croatia definitely showed the mindset! One of the most exciting teams in World Cup History for sure.

well deserved for France, it was the better team throughout the whole tournament.
I enjoyed Pogba and Mbappé's goals more than anything else here.

Mbappé's value have grown 100% at least.

It surely took some time before all the heads of state were under an umbrella...

    you're a disgrace.
I don't drink but if my country would've reached the fifth match, I'd drink Vodka mixed with Tequila.

Honestly, I've drunk so many glasses full of wine at each goal. I was expecting like 2 goals at most...
But right now, I must be into my fourth bottle. I think I should eat some thing to compensate with the drinks

    And it just keeps escalating-----

Thanks Croatia. You fought well and frightened us. But in the end you let me revive those moments of 20 years ago when I was still a student.
    Time sur flies fast :-)

    What the fuck???

France won, but there's rioting/looting going on?
    Come on... really??

If that's the reaction to winning, it's probably a really really good thing you guys didn't lose :/

Some do, yes. Always a minority, obviously. Just like always after a big event like this, people do that sometimes. Wether it's in France, UK, Spain, Italy or US doesn't make much difference. Just look at Philadelphia celebrating the SuperBowl and keep in mind that the WorldCup only happens once every 4years and that the French have a tradition of going a lot on strikes (meaning that maybe they can be more prone than others to go out marching like this)

Thinking about it. We won the WorldCup without Benzema

Think about it- you won the World Cup with Giroud up front.

How'd the celebrations go last night?

Congrats to France, they earned it in that second half.
I though Croatia was mostly in control in the first half, I could only blame them for giving France that penalty kick, but les blues kept their balance much better later in the game.

But I have to award the best goal of the match to Mandzukic for pulling that fast one on Lloris. I hadn't seen such a ridiculous display by a goal keeper since, what, 7th grade maybe? To see it at a world cup final just blew my fucking mind.
For runner up either Perisic's or Mbmappé's, hard to decide since they're at opposite ends of the spectrum. The Croatian goal was a great team effort while Mbappé's was mostly the kid giving it all and proving to be next big name to watch out for.
And after those, Pogba's. You gotta be persistent when facing your opponents and he showed the world why.

Also, this is a good image

'98 was a great year for french football, Kylian was born
[98 was also the year France won their first world cup, for those unware]
