I’m gonnna make a speculation here. There’s going to be a “Strongest Swordsman in Wano” with the title and fame and everything and Zoro will meet him obviously but they won’t actually ever fight. And it won’t even be clear if Zoro’s actually stronger than the guy. The plot will be either 1) This Samurai Wants to fight Zoro because he is a battlemonger and something stops it from Happening or 2) This Samurai is like Mihawk and only cares to fight if he’s the one who gets challenged.

I think the presence of such a guy would help explore Zoro’s dream and since they never actually fight, This Samurai technically remains Wano’s best Samurai if he was weaker than Zoro and if he was stronger, Zoro would never get compelled to try and beat the guy then.

I got this idea from Afro Samurai with the whole, what it would actually be like to be the best. I think this Wano Samurai would also be completely unaffiliated with the Beast pirates or the rebels or the Shogun. Just like how Afro only had the title of No.1 after it was all said and done, this guy wouldn’t have anymore allegiances outside of himself and his title.

Lastly, what’s the plot significance? Like I said, it’s to explore Zoro’s dream and differentiate it from a guy like Afro or Mihawk or in this case, the Wano Samurai. To show how that trope of detaching yourself from humanity to achieve your goal turns out if Zoro has decided to remain a lone Swordsman back in East blue. A sort of path not traveled thing.

Edit :This also would fit into the theme of Wano as an arc since this Wano Samurai will be a man with Zoro levels of Potential but since he’s in an Isolated country, he never actually knows how big the outside world is and so the country’s Isolationism itself actually reduces his ambitions because it makes him settle for Wano’s Best instead of going out to sea like Zoro did to fight the World’s best himself. And I Imagine at the end of the Wano arc, when the first news papers fall into Wano, he will be completely surprised to find out that Mihawk even exists and the last shot of him will be a sly grin since he’s finally found something greater to strive for again.

Could be. Even though 10y ago Kaidou probably didn't have that many forces at his command, neither was Moriah that strong to say that if he had zombies he would've defeated Kaidou. I mean com'on, if 0 skill - 0 talent Usopp managed to beat Perona (the circumstances dont matter), then i really doubt Moriah would've had the upper hand with a couple of zombies against Kaidou.

So the scenario where he was coopearting with Kaidou, they did something fishy in Wano, Kaidou blamed everything on Moriah to save face and then attacked him is possible. Something must have happend because the people of Wano seem to not have any problem with the factories, Kaidou's crew hanging around and Orochi sharing his bed with him - i'm not talking here about the poor people that Luffy&co encountered, but the people that live in the capital, etc, etc.

The context is that Moria's original crew was completelly killed, so he had only low tier disposable zombies and pirates, not even Absalom would have been with him back then. Perona was like 10 and Hogback was still a prominent doctor.

With the way that the people act around Kaido's goons, propaganda, plain and simple. I think we haven't got anyone on the flower capital talk about Kaido yet, so they could claim ignorance on all the bad shit going around as they didn't even bother to look outside their valley/wall/golden cage.

Your assuming too much here. Both Moriah and Kaido are very strong. Moriah only claims that if he had Oars he would've won. I think Moriah had zombies as it seems that Dr. Hogback is only needed to prepare, repair, and strengthen the zombies, I believe if a corpse is available Moriah can still reanimate it albeit with a shorter shelf life.

I don't think Kaido and Moriah were working together. I feel like their rivalry was getting intense and Moriah went to Wano to look for more powerful corpses to reanimate. He found Ryuma but like others of the past it was in too poor condition to reanimate. 3 years after the "Pirate Incident" that desecrated Ryuma's burial grounds. Kaido was recruited by Orochi to defeat Moriah for what he had done, learning of his history with Moriah. With Kaido's help Orochi killed the Oden Clan and took control of Wano. 8 years later Moriah would be defeated by Kaido and his crew would be killed.

Now that we know there are two heirs of the Kozuki, whom will become the Shogun. It does open up the possibility for any of the two, Momo or Hiyori to set sail like their father did.

I posted this elsewhere but I guess this is as good place as any. This is a specific play out of the Wano arc based on Japanese Myths

    In Japanese folklore, there’s a few myths concerning the moon and rabbits which you can check out here;
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_rabbit
Now there’s two very distinct ones I’d like to point out.

The first is the myth that there’s a RABBIT on the MOON pounding MOCHI. Of course This is very easy for everyone to work out how it got used in One Piece. Carrot was the first Mink to be shown to perform Sulong by staring at a full moon, while at that exact time, Luffy was essentially, Pounding Mochi(and also getting pounded back). So once again this is Oda being clever with his references to Japanese Folklore. You’d think this is why Carrot is in the plot, just for this one reference but there’s more. We know the moon is still playing a big part in the story, actually even more than it did in Whole cake island so there’s no reason for Oda to stop the Moon rabbit references now since there’s many of them to choose from.

The second and most widespread myth is the one that explains why there’s a Rabbit on the moon in the first place. Again the one in Japanese Folklore goes something like, there was a FOX, a MONKEY and a RABBIT who felt charitable one day and set out to help whoever they met but wanted a reward in turn. They meet an old man who’s in NEED OF FOOD, and the fox and monkey hunt and gather lots of food for the old man with their skills and the Rabbit being only able to collect grass can’t see what good her skills are. The Rabbit just decides to leap into the fire and SACRIFICE itself to feed the old man instead. The fire though doesn’t actually burn it, it turns out the Old man is a god of some sort and touched by the Rabbit’s virtue decides to give it the reward instead of the fox and monkey. The reward being its image would be permanently engraved on the MOON for all to see the benefits of its virtue.

This second myth already has parallels we can point out in regard to One Piece and the Wano arc. The fox, the rabbit, the monkey, the need for food and the moon. Now I wouldn’t say Carrot is suicidal or anything but it’s definitely part of her story when you consider Pedro died in a Fire essentially via self-sacrifice/Suicide. And considering how Oda made sure to carry on this plot element through Carrot with Pedro’s last words, She is certainly the character in the story Pedro’s death most pertains to as of now.

I pointed out already that Oda could decide to leave the Moon Rabbit myth references in One Piece at What we saw in WCI alone but I’ve also shown that Wano is ripe for even more references if he wants to and seeing as he would be referencing the most popular of the myths then it would be an almost wasted opportunity if he didn’t.

Now I can even give a speculation as to how easy it would be to reference this second myth. The gist of the myth is that the Fox and Monkey don’t get a material reward for their efforts because they want it and the Rabbit that doesn’t directly want that material reward gets it even if her efforts are lower in comparison. We know Luffy and Kin’emon are as virtuous as the Rabbit in the myth so that won’t apply for their efforts to feed the people of Wano and defeat the Beast pirates and even open the Borders of Wano. So these things will in fact happen but there’s one thing that’s sort of not so virtuous about what they want. Luffy wants the Red poneglyph in Kaidou’s possession for his own benefit. So to reference the myth, Luffy won’t be the one to ultimately obtain the poneglyph, Carrot will. Carrot, spurred on by Pedro’s sacrifice, will be the one to ultimately obtain the Poneglyph, either by finding its location or getting a rubbing of it or something, but whatever it is, she’ll be the one who does the most essential thing in obtaining it, and it won’t be for herself, it will be to honor Pedro’s memory and give it to the Strawhats. It will also be obtained through tremendous hardship of course to reference the Rabbit leaping into fire.
The reward in the myth as well is connected to the Moon and we know the Poneglyphs are made by the Kozuki clan(i.e the Moon light clan). Lastly the reward is also supposed to show the Rabbit’s virtue and here I think Oda would have to do a bit better than just having the Strawhats say thanks. I think the only fitting reward to show Carrots virtue is, she joins the Strawhats.

What do you guys think about this?

I feel like Speed is getting the short stick and not because she's part horse. I mean Smiles can be useful if done right..... If they are done right. Some have surprised us and some like Holdem got KO in 3 seconds.

I feel like I'm the only guy who likes Speed and O-Tama's devil fruit powers working on a Zoan type seems out of nowhere. (I know Speed's a Smile user.) But there's no way to know if it works on just Zoan Devil Fruit users alone. Plus, it was a risk if a human with a Zoan were to eat it and it didn't feel like an asspull that Oda did just to see if folks will draw fanart of the female horse girl. Also, I think many people had called it in the past that outside of a Water Water no Me? A Time Time Fruit was something we thought he would never use but did it in a way that wasn't the Cell Arc. (At least there isn't like 7 timelines that are outta control.)

Also, lots of people are calling it and I may join the boat. If Gekko Moriah's not in the new world? I'll be very sad.
I'm NOT a doggy. I am a creature from another world.

I would say O-tama's df could be very useful with the Minks, they are even more animal-like than Smiles, and it appears lots of them dont have any control of themselves while doing Sulong, so that could work.

Now this is an interesting idea. If Tama can help Minks in Sulong calm down so they don’t die if they nevervtraoned for Sulong.

So you're suggesting a parallel to the Roger pirates? I can see that, but Momo seems more tied to Wano.
Here’s how Naruto should end: Last panel is Naruto standing proudly over Konohagakure. Slowly zoom out to reveal Luffy staring into a snowglobe with a miniature Konoha inside it. Usopp asks him what he’s doing. Luffy replies “Thinkin’ bout ninjas! Ninjas are cool!” and then chucks it off the ship

... wano is a small, isolated country. A native has no reason to compare to Zoro or Luffy because they haven't been going out into the world to challenge themselves. See also: no one even imagined that a swordsman could do with a sword what Zoro did at the end of his first Wano chapter.

Oda is clearly playing up Wano right now as "Japan right before the west opened it up in the meiji era". They know of the outside but are content to do their own thing, oblivious of the strength of the world. It would be ridiculous for any living swordsman to be twenty tiers above literally everyone else native to the entire country just to be a questionable matchup vs Zoro. Zoro's rivalry this arc will clearly be with one of Kaido's men.

I think it's very likely that Zoro AND Sanji are going to fight an calamity in my opinion. It's the simple formula of "Strongest Guy/Boss-of-evil-organization" fights against Luffy, his "Two strongest fighters" against Zoro and Sanji. Worked in Alabasta dn Enies Lobby, you know, the big arcs where we have final rounds of fights and all the crew is present. Why change it here?

Question is what happens to the third calamity and the Shogun? Well, like I've pointed out a few times in the past, the most important and emphasized supernova after Law is certainly Kid, so he needs to shine and have a big fight, so he would be a likely candidate.

As for the thing with the Momotaro and the phasant, please don't make it Aokiji. It would absolutely destroy the "4-underdogs"-moment of all of this. Simply because Kuzan himself is a former Admiral, who was absolutely in league with the Fleet Admiral and thus is likely to be as strong or almost as strong as Kaido. If Kuzan is the pheasant, than the fight against Kaido is going to be a short one. He is simply too strong here in my opinion.

Carrot's still never gonna join the crew.

I don't believe Orochi was Aware of who stole the corpse of Ryuuma. At least his goons didn't state who the original thief was (they blamed Zoro for stealing the sword from the original thief).
Further I gotta say, that the Moriah now (Motto:"You do it!") might be different from the Moriah in the past. From his Little monologue about the NW, it sounded to me like Moriah was confident in himself (and had a good Crew without an army of Zombies). So I assume, that if he stole shadows back then, he used them for himself (like in shadow's asgard).
Maybe just before he went to Wano, he has learnt, that he can put shadows in dead bodies in the first place. I somehow wonder how he discovered that anyway.
But that is pure speculation though.

Well it’s not like I didnt mention the possibility of The Samurai being weaker than Zoro... My main conclusion was that the Samurai never fought Zoro, whether he was in fact weaker or not...

And by your logic, that means all this hype about Orochi being a worthy challenge for Zoro is bullshit. Since he’s also a Wano Samurai and should be like Hyouzu Level Fodder.... And your conclusion also brings into question how Oden or Ryuuma could exist as Wano Samurai... Oden sailed on Roger’s ship right? Before it was revealed Oden was a fighter, people assumed he was like another Crocus type of crewmate. But this Chapter has shown us he wasn’t anything to scoff at. So as a fighter on Roger’s Ship, How can he be as weak as you proclaim. Ryuuma Too, if the story of him Cutting a dragon in one hit is true and we know from Punk Hazard that the dragons Vegapunk created cant even compare to the real dragons from olden times. That means Ryuuma can pull of attacks very very much greater than Zoro’s Shi shisonson Attack. That’s also an anomaly in your characterization of the maximum power cap of Wano Samurai
