    Finished Season 1.

I got used to the animation as episodes went on.

    Spoiler:
I'm going to call it that the King's soul is in a coin along with the Elf assassins. Virens kids are both idiots lol and because of that it's hard to tell if they are on their dads side fully or if they are acting on misguided beliefs.

Yeah, I decided to trust on everyone saying the frame rate thing got better as the series goes and forced myself to keep going. It was still a problem to me for 2 or 3 more episodes but then it got much better.

Sadly, managing to get over the frame rate issue made me focus on the series itself and... well... I disliked it. Strongly.
    Spoiler:
The writing is terribly messy and contrived, the characters are inconsistent, the humor is dumb and annoyingly used (at some point I felt like the characters had the need to be funny in every single line). By the 7th episode I caught myself forcing to watch it again, and this time it had nothing to do with the animation. Also, I feel like the main characters have almost no perceivable personality traits to set them apart from each other, they are all basically just "ironic good kids"... except Callum takes it one notch too high and crosses the line between entertaining and annoying by the second episode - and just keeps going.

When I finally finished the season the only thing I could feel was that I am 20 years too old to enjoy this and I think that's the problem really. The character behavior really screams pre-teen and I think that's the whole point, this show is not meant for me but for someone who could be my child.

    Good things:
    - Claudia is adorable. There is no other word for her. And as far as mascots go, Bait is a great choice.
    - Amaya and the representation in itself was great already, but I particularly loved the fact that her two clearly most important moments were not translated by Gren. They were left only in sign language so we'll have to trust the fans who can understand sign language to translate it for us on the internet and I could just imagine how amazing it must feel for a deaf kid to have this moment made for them (and entrusted to them).

C'mon, clearly his soul was exchanged with the bird's.

Somehow I didn't actually think about that

I can see the over-gesticulating in RWBY, but I don't remember any odd movements.

It does. Season 3 is the top so far. I advise you to try more of it.

Default Dragon Prince (From the writers of Last Airbender)

New episodes are coming February 15.

Not sure why they played so coy with will there/won't there be a season 2... they obviously had at least this much on order when the show premiered, and its Neflix so it was kind of safe to assume there would be more than 9 episodes.

Season 2 was an improvement on the first in terms of story and character... and they stopped doing whatever they were doing with the animation that made it so jerky. So, improvements all around!

(Seriously, who thought removing frames would make it look better? Its CG, its not going to look hand drawn no matter what.)

As always, it is way more interesting when the story stops focusing Callum and co. to either Viren and Snow White's Mirror or Soren and Claudia.

And the sole two scenarios involving best aunt.

The show splitting its attention four ways is getting in the way a little. Because its Netflix they can design a story to go over three or four episodes and be okay-ish... but it means they're not even trying to make tight contained 22 minute segments. Like that flashback was stretched over two episodes even though in full it was maybe 14 minutes long.

As a result, even after 9 episodes, it feels like very little happened. Like if they'd focused that same ammount of material could have been told in 4 or 5 episodes. Room to breathe is good, but... if you're going to take advantage of Netflix streaming the episodes, really take advantage and be okay with just not showing one group or the other for an episode at a time, then give them a real focus when you get back, instead of just having them in 2 minute bits that don't even fit together thematically.

Last Airbender managed to split the narrative between Aang and Zuko, but that was only two arcs to follow... and generally Zuko's bit would be much smaller, and the two storylines would have something in common to bind them together. That's not exactly happening here... they're trying to Game of Thrones it... but that doesn't work in 20 minute episodes.

9 episodes are not enough unless they're going with a pretty aggressive release schedule like Voltron had.

Well, the first two seasons were five months apart, so... yeah, they're probably going for roughly that pace. And remember, some of the Voltron seasons were only five or six episodes.

At a guess, since they're doing the season "book" titles just like Avatar, they're probably shooting for six seasons, one for each element. And if they're all 9 episodes, that'd put them at 54 episodes. That's enough for syndication, but not quite the old school 65 episodes of syndication, or Voltron's 78.
