In 935, it made sense how Kyoshiro could send Queen's guys (a third of the flying 6) to deal with Sanji (Queen's line about the pleasure district).
Queen gets "all-Access" to Komurasaki, Kyoshiro can lend Manpower from Queen. Quite the Agreement IMO.
Of course, the "murder" of Komurasaki changed some things.

Didn't Zoro use Lion's Song or something to break Kaku's Iron Body? Or at least attempt to? You know that move Zoro uses to cut steel, the one that only came about when he realized it was about technique and not brute force?

Do you also realize that Jyabra was the only member of CP9 who could use Iron Body while in motion so just about the entire fight he was using it and Sanji's kicks were hurting him throughout? Of course this is One Piece so a brand new move was the finisher, not particularly necessary for him or Zoro, just a flashy way to end.

Doruki lovers need a one way ticket to Oro Jackson.
Lion's Song was only used on Mr. 1 and to split some train cars on the way to Enies Lobby. Zoro had to power up with his Ashura form to, I assume, do a triple-strong attack on Kaku that was too strong for Tekkai to block. Granted it was the singular attack Zoro was wielding that managed to do so but it still took the guy down in one shot (similarly to how Mr. 1 went down after that one good hit). It wasn't meant to bypass Tekkai defense like Nami's lightning and Sanji's fire.

I watched the youtube fight between Sanji and Jyabura and while it mentioned that Jyabura could use it while mobile, he didn't seem to consistently be using it (like when Sanji ducked one of his attacks and kicked him in the nose; if you catch him off-guard and he's not constantly channeling it - which is reasonable to assume there would have to be limits to that kind of thing) and when Sanji was just barraging him with kicks, it was moving Jyabura but not actually breaking through his Tekkai. Kind of like how you can kick a ball and send it flying without actually damaging the ball, I guess. We saw Sanji do a pretty impressive spinning kick while on the train and while it seemed to rattle Blueno, one of the weakest of CP9, it didn't quite do the trick, so it isn't that feasible for him to suddenly be that much more effective against an even stronger opponent five minutes later.

I mean, that's really all I could care about, just a relative measure of the strength of the concerned party's best punch. Even if you had a Zoan DF, you could still use that and see how much it boosts the raw strength between normal human form and hybrid or full Zoan form. Hell, even the difference between a normal punch and a Haki infused punch. Just those little details would be nice to know. Like stats on a baseball card. Obviously we know things like DF abilities are going to throw a monkey wrench into the works like how Foxy gave Luffy such a hard time in spite of their strength difference. But we'd at least know how hard a fight we're in for if we have an idea going in what the base stats of each opponent were.

Never really had a problem with Douriki. Mostly because of that fact.

It should be considered as nothing more than points given in standardized periodic tests, something not unlike what soldiers or members of special forces have to go through. So it would mean that Lucci (4000 D) can do way more than twice the number of push ups Blueno (800 D) can do, or beat the track in way less than double of Blueno's time. But if Lucci was just an athlete without the knowledge of martial arts, and Blueno was a karate black belt, he might be a stronger fighter. Or if Blueno, instead of having door fruit, had lightning logia, he could fodderize Lucci despite being physically less fit.

Even makes sense top government agents would go through repeated tests, since their missions are sensitive. A common marine soldier, with a Douriki around 10, is just cannon fodder.

Idk, think it at least shows that Oda didn't want to fall into a trap with some pretend-numbers. Makes sense from someone whose fights aren't always decided by just who is stronger.

I'd imagine it came about because people kept pestering him about who is better all the damn time. Like he open his mail slot and two hundred letters drop in reading Zoro is totally stronger than Luffy and Sunkist huh and he just got fed up and invented the bullshit number system. Which of course backfired because even when you put a random number on it people won't believe what you write cause it "doesn't feel right". But as it stands Sauron and Sunkist are cannonically within 20 random bullshit power level points of each other and Luffy is twice as great as either of them courtesy of the closest thing to a power level we are probably ever gonna get. Not that this will ever settle the great wank off anytime soon

If Queen's minions don't want to tell Queen about Komurasaki's death because they will be killed. What will Queen's reaction be towards the one that actually murdered her and as you said, even had access to Queen's forces and used them.

It certainly seems like giving in to masses. You need to have a measuring stick of some kind in a shonen. That and the tournament, of course. Gotta have the tournament.

You could remove Douriki from the picture completely, replace it with Lucci>Kaku>Blueno dialogue and the arc would lose nothing with it.

This way it's just an awkward one off thing. Like it makes sense Cipher Pol uses the measure, but there isn't one to rank marines by physical stats. And you can bet Douriki won't be getting a grand return even though CP9 members are back in the picture again.

Douriki was nothing more than a Dragonball homage, one of many in the series. Hell, one of the characters who explained the system was inspired by Taopaipai / Mercenary Tao, who was Oda's favorite DB villain.

This wasn't an awkward mistake or a concept Oda discarded after Enies Lobby. He undermined the Douriki / powerlevel system the moment it was explained. Physical strength plays only one part in a world with hundreds of ways to power up through Devil fruits, Willpower or other unique combat techniques (Fishman Karate, Hashoken, whatever Sanji is doing with DJ, various types of hypnosis, etc.).

And that's the best thing he could have done as an author. It might be frustrating for fans to speculate about the powerlevel of a character, but that's ultimately what keeps the young audience engaged. A powercounter telling you that Smoothie is 10% more powerful than Cracker would be boring.

Cracker would probably have a relatively low Doriki.

Is Cracker even still alive? Who knows, maybe that cannonball killed him.

I remember how terrible the conversations were when Douriki was first introduced. Thankfully it died out. But the 'bounties equal power' is here to stay. My argument to those people is always Chopper. He had a 50 berri bounty, but for a time he was probably the strongest of them all with Monster Point. This world is filled to the brim with all sorts of super crazy stuff. Devil Fruits make a power system irrelevant, and I am happy for that.

I have quietly been reading the manga again without going on any discussion pages but thought I'd come back to see what's piquing everyone's interest in the latest chapters aaaaaaaand most I see is the rehash of the argument old as time itself: Zoro vs Sanji. Love it!
