Oh man i forgot Kinemon has a devil fruit. Please let him trap sausage Kaido in a cardigan or something. Would crack me up so much to see the least combat worthy DF being put to effective use

Bringing Kinemon, Raizo and Kiku as credible fighters is outright wrong. Zoro being close to Yonko commander leel again doesn;t mean anything. Look how Kaido and Big Mom have treated such level.
Luffy getting one shot don't mean much with other character and different fighting styles .
Hell luffy getting beat once don't even mean much when it comes to round 2 .
Also you keep on talking about luffy getting one shot and seem to forget Kaido was in human mode .
Luffy was punching the hell out of dragon mode .
    TLG , FFVIIR and Shenmue 3 2015 the E3 of dreams .

Imagine Kaido transforming back, only to announce that he will have to use his actual Devil Fruit power against them now.

We won't be getting Hybrid mode next, just his full zoan transformation first. Which is Hito Hito!

People might be wondering why Kaido choses the ineffective Dragon form, but he's just playing by the rules! Fight in base first, followed by full Zoan, then Hybrid!

So you are agreeing at least that some of the Scabbards are Yonko commander level? Good.

Yes, Yonkos are way stronger than their commanders. That doesn't mean that if 5 or 6 of them would fight together against a Yonko, they wouldn't be able to put up a fight at all.

And Luffy being stronger than each individual Scabbard, yet being one shot by Kaido doesn't mean a thing, because Kaido isn't fighting each Scabbards individually, he is fighting all 9 of them at once. Don't underestimate how much of a different that makes - even shielding yourself from a hit is difficult because you can't cover yourself from 9 sides at once. Think of the Strawhats vs. Oars fight. Oars with Luffys shadow was an absolute monster, none of the Strawhats would have stood a chance in hell of defeating him on their own, but through good teamwork, they almost managed to do so, if it hadn't been for Moria joining the fight.

Izu isn't in the top 3 of WB. He was far back down in the pecking order. He was a nobody in MF.
That's overstating things a bit, isn't it? Complete headcanon on your part. He was, at the very least, a very strong fighter. I kinda doubt Whitebeard would give a commaning position to a 'complete nobody'.

Bringing Kinemon, Raizo and Kiku as credible fighters is outright wrong.
Nope it isn't. Kiku in particular has been portrayed as a skilled fighter throughout the arc. She defeated Kanjuro for example, who was also portrayed as a pretty skilled fighter once his true nature was revealed.

As for Kinemon and Raizo, you're letting yourself get fooled by their portrayal as complete buffoons throughout the story. Being a buffoon does not translate to being a bad fighter - I mean, look at Luffy lol. We have gotten absolutely no hint that of Raizos fighting abilities before this. As for Kinemon, I already know what you are gonna say, omg, he got defeated by Law and was awed by Zoro managing to cut Picas giant stone body. How does that prove Kinemon is weak? Are Law and Zoro weaklings by any means?

I'm honestly starting to wonder what you expected to happen to Kaido in this arc? Because it's been pretty clear for a while that he will be defeated by the end of it, yet according to you, none of the characters, including Luffy, Zoro or Law, would even be able to leave a scratch on him, let alone actually put up a fight against him.

Oh wow I´ve waited til now to read it, didn´t know it was supposed to come out two days early, anyway:

    1. Finally Marco and Perospero appear, although the dialogue between Phoenix and BM felt weird / inconclusive or maybe I just didn´t get it. Does Marco intend to fight her now?
    2. Black Maria is too hot. Please don´t let Sanji accidentally enter that room...
    3. Scabbards vs Kaido fight had some rally cool, enjoyable action. The Dragon is clearly too large of a target for them. Solid display of skill by the samurai, time for the Emperor to turn into a human or hybrid like against Luffy and go clubbing.

    Good chapter.

EDIT: Now the only main characters missing in action are Law and Kid, so I guess they´ll appear next chapter.

LOL. Funnily enough, I was actually thinking of chess. The highest title a player can attain, officially, is of Grandmaster, but nowadays when players get a rating above 2700 we call them, unofficially, Super Grandmasters. That's why I thought of Super Yonkou, lol.

I know that the heroes will get out of it like you said but I don't know how.
Well You could also say that I don't know what will happens next in the current situation. Will Kaidout beat all the scabbards in one big swoop, will it be a stale match until Luffy arrive ? The difference is that I'm not really interested in knowing that much. Like Jabra said, Ulti Paypay vs Usopp Nami sounds as much entertaining
But if you're not interested, is it because of lack of tension then? I'm also very excited about Nami and Usopp vs Ulti and Paypay, but I'm also super excited to see all it will take to beat Kaido. Just look at the artwork of this chapter, and I'm sure Oda will keep delivering great panels for any Kaido fight.

I do not know what Oda is currently setting up but it wouldn't be out of left field in my opinion for it to be revealed that under certain dire circumstances like this one, where the resolve of the Scabbards is so strong, that they are willing to literally die before they strike down Kaido that Ryuo could possibly be temporarily inherited. (Perhaps Oden's reference to his "soul living on" in this panel has an additional meaning to just his will being passed on to his followers and children.)

I don't know exactly, but I'm spitballing here for possible reasons because of Kaido's dual internal monologues. Kaido's been around the block, it is very clear to me that Oda demonstrating twice that Kaido being damaged and being confused about it is abnormal.
Yes. I also mentioned in the spoiler thread that it's weird that Oda is reminding us of this question a few chapters after Kaido himself had already answered that they used Oden's ryou. So why wonder again?

I think there's a meaningful revelation about this to happen, and your idea is very relevant.

Please. I am following Deamon Slayer, MHA, Attack on Titant and Golden Kamyu only as Anime. It's not difficult to add a Spoiler warning...

I truly loved this chapter. If scabbards couldn't do this much at least, they would have failed Oden. Also a bit weakened Kaido is ideal for Luffy to take down.

Yea, if you're criticizing something that characters within the story are also explicitly calling out themselves as not making sense, then Oda's probably trying to tell you something there lol

Not once did Oda named an attack with a format like that and not turned out to be a devil fruit. Also the naming is the same as Shinobu's technique and kinemon's attack both are devil fruita. Oda wont go out of his way to name it like that if it is not a devil fruit.

Also ninjutsu might be an actually thing but this far from ur regular ninjutsu.

Yeah, I feel there's a difference between other stuff Raizo has done that's typically associated with ninja like clones, substitute jutsu (which are supposed to be just moving really fast), smoke bombs, etc, and the Naruto stunt he just pulled.

What does "using Oden's ryou" even mean? How do you use another person's haki?

Thats not true in the case of the WB pirates - Marco, Jozu and Vista were all capable of briefly engaging Yonkou level opponents without looking inferior.

Im not disputing the fact that the yonkou and admirals are clearly stronger than them, but its a massive overstatement to say that the difference is huge, considering that a fully serious aokiji couldnt put a scratch on Jozu until he momentarily dropped his guard. Same with Marco and kizaru

--- Update From New Post Merge ---

As far as im concerned, this chapter was a clear instance of plot thematics and symbolism taking precedence over power level consistency, and for that reason i didnt enjoy it much.

    It's ambiguous.

A very basic and soft interpretation can mean that they use the same type of haki as Oden, the one that can hurt Kaido like Oden did.

Another interpration is that they are using Oden's ryou itself, like an "inhiritted will" type of thing, which could be symbolic or even literal in case there's a major revelation regarding passing on your own haki to someone else.

Cool fights, I also liked how 3 of those 4 suddenly got another sword out of nowhere and were able to do a 2 sword-style attack.
I wonder if they always had the extra sword or did they borrow them from the other retainers? or they just picked up some random swords from the battlefield or were they stored somewhere in Raizo's scrolls? lol the possibilities with those scrolls are endless. I hope it a is DF or something, cause I don't think you can fine tune something like a dial into this, but who knows maybe it is possible for such a material to exist in the world of OP.

I think they always had them. Samurai tend to carry a daisho. As in by tradition they always have a set of one long sword and one short sword worn in tandem. Even if they only practice a one sword style.

    I envision the following...

    Real series ending:

Joy Boy is waiting in Laugh Tale.
    Luffy arrives.
Joy Boy: "Who the hell are you?!? I was expecting Kaido! I mean... he is the WSC after all!!!"

    Ideal series ending:

Joy Boy is waiting in Laugh Tale standing on a mat that says "One Piece" on it.
    Kaido arrvies.
Joy Boy: "Kaido... you are the first Yonko to arrive. You have won the One Piece!"
Big Mom arrives a few minutes later, out of breath.
Joy Boy: "Big Mom... you are the second Yonko to arrive. I'm sorry, you did not win the One Piece."

Don't forget haki is an actual japanese word meaning Ambition.
I'm taking those lines more as a poetic thing. They're not using Oden's actual haki, that would be phicially impossible, they're copying his techniques and they carry his "ambition", his inherited will. Kaidou feels like Oden is attacking him form beyond the grave.

If the scabbards are fucking up kaido this badly then why are the straw hats even needed lol

I'm guessing Kaido is going to turn the tables sometime before chapter 1000 . He's probably got some rediculous hybrid form he never used unless he has to . Maybe odas making it a point that this is the absolute best the scab ards can do and Kaido will just kill them all in hybrid form lol
