Woah, when I came into this thread I thought I stumbled into a manga discussion thread. Again, you seriously need to start something and get it published ASAP.

No, no he shouldn't. He should get a job as a "comic author". As far as I know he's not Japanese living in Japan, so it makes no sense to use "mangaka". That's just...weeabooish.
"mangaka" is just a japanese word for "comic author," just like "manga" is a japanese word for "comic," so does it really matter?
besides, using that logic, i'm indonesian, so technically i should be a "tukang gambar komik." now that's just awful.
don't they call comics like batman "manga" as well in japan? or do they call it some weird term like "amekomi" from "american comic" the same way "amefuto" is "american football" ?
^Hmmm, well sense you put it that way, I guess it doesn't. I guess it's just natural to call a japanese comic a manga and an American comic a... well, comic book.

According to the song Angel Fish by the pillows they call it amerikan komikku, but that's used to fit the song, so yeah, prolly amekomi.
The last panel was perfect. Perfect, and very Gintoki-y.
XD very hilarious
Kamen Rider OOOs
Yeah, but in terms of nationality you're American, right? And you're very right, it's just the term in another language which is my point. There's no point in using it unless it's truly is a comic or comic author in another country like Japan.
I mean no disrespect for your thread by bringing this debate in here, I know I've brought it into a few threads.
nope. i was born in indonesia, and i am still an indonesian citizen. i just currently reside in california as a legal citizen; i have yet to obtain my US citizenship.
oh, certainly there is no disrespect. in fact, disrespect is never the issue here. the reason i responded is because you brought up a completely and entirely unnecessary issue. it's like when 2 people are chatting on the streets and one of them said "if i was president..." and out of the blue you come in and said "it's 'were,' not 'was!!' " it's not disrespectful, it's just completely unnecessary.
you said it yourself that "it's just the term in another language," and that "there's no point in using it," so the way i see it is that there's no need to have to correct another person for saying "manga" as opposed to "comic." let them say what they wanna say; it doesn't offend me, and so it shouldn't offend you, especially since it wasn't even directed at you.
besides, if i believe in technical correctness, there's no way i'd have been able to draw what i can draw right now. =p
You go e1n. I totally agree with you.
Ah crap....and I do use "was" in such sentences....I'm...a failure. *walks away in shame*
Ah screw it, I'm not going anywhere. This is where my BBxAce is at.
if i'm not mistaken, youre not speaking native american so it's a bit hypocritical to demand people to speak their native tounge
as if the american language isn't a giant mush pot of different languages already
also, that comic is pretty sweet e1n. You should start your own someday, I'd totally buy it.

Dang it, e1n, your stuff looks professional, too awesome. But its making me wanna pick up a pen and work with ink (which i suck at, and my mindset isn't drawn to). *sigh*
