    Default One Piece's Maturity Level

Ok, I know this is a pretty dumb topic, but what do you think of One Piece's maturity level? 1 is very childish and 10 is very mature.

I feel that One Piece, at times, can get a bit bloody, and at other times, there is too less blood. Also, some things are quite childish while other things are mature.

I think that One Piece would be around a 7, since it can be childish, but it can also get bloody and mature.

10 is too far, 10 would be like Hellsing, blood everywhere, cursing, excessive violence. But 7 is a tad too low, I say 8. 4Kids version? 2.

Define "maturity". I think the level of thinking and some of the ideas in it are more mature than just straight up blood and boobs, frankly, look at Alabasta, Skypeia, and Water 7's storylines.

Also, until I know that the poll was approved, I'm closing it.

I'm going with 6-7. It's a nice mix of maturity and childishness.

I really don't know how to answer this. First of all, I don't really agree with the mindset that more violence and blood = more mature. I think people who thirst for that stuff too much are more immature. When I think of maturity I think more of complexity of plot and characters as well as the violence level. As a story, One Piece is fairly simple, but it has more depth and violence than the average children's faire. I'm HAPPY that the violence is never excessive as with something like Hellsing.
I don't think One Piece is "childish", but I don't think it's "adult". It's just a good story that children and adults alike can enjoy, I think.

It seems to me that pretty much everyone agrees to a 7-8 score. Which seems just about right for me. Maturity is so much more than swearing and blood, which many people (4KIDS HUMHUM) seem to forget. Maturity is, the way I see it, about realizing a few facts about life and being able to handle being shown those. Even in a fantasy world like this.

I concur. It's kind of like Star Wars in that there it can be seen through multiple layers of depth and at it's very foundation is entertaining and the structure that is built upon can be as huge or as small as the viewer/reader wants it to be.

I would give it an 8, minus 0.5 for the duck, plus 1 for when Bellamy's pirates offer to "buy" Nami.

    7's? 8's even?

    And I Quote:

    O: It's poop.
    5 and sometimes 4.

And I wouldn't want it any other way.

No one ever dies. I rate it a 6. It also lacks nudity, and average pervertive thoughts/actions. Not to mention the whole theme is a bit not mature.

The lack of death and nudity are something I value in a story, especially one with such interesting characters; however, I am sorry to say that doesn't earn OP respect in America and is in fact a liability. Since idealism and optimism are often considered "childish", with realism and cynicism the more "adult" views on things (God knows why), OP is thus ushered into a "feel good" category. It's almost as if people do not recognise that OP is a reincarnation of Dragonball. o.O

It has some fairly sophisticated themes:

Good and evil are non-traditional (see the WG) and may be multi-layered (Nami)
Characters have clear limits and no easy way to surpass them (Luffy's worthless without his nakama, Sanji's bound by a single boob)
Motives below the surface (Kuro, Nami, the Baroque Works)

At the same time, it's doused in childish absurdity like the more comical devil-fruit powers and appearances.

Around the 9/10-ish range. It's no where NEAR childish with all the blood and cussing.

    I made this badass signature.
