I don't know if a limit has specifically been stated.

It's probably a string DF. The way he severed Oars's leg and Crocodile's head, suggests that he controls super-fine strings with his hand motions, which are strong enough to cut through flesh. He can also use those strings to turn people into his personal puppets. At least, that's my theory.

Hmmmm not really - I get the feeling to properly learn Fishmen Karate you have to be immersed in water - which is why Humans would have a problem learning it due to how long you would have to be underwater. Mizu Mizu fruit would be kind of pointless if all DF make you a hammer in water when it reaches your waist and above. It would have to be a major Canon upset to write it in at this point you would think that the Mizu Mizu fruit would be legendary and as such mentioned.

Actually it would have to be more like a Puppet DF - if it was just string people would be cutting themselves to pieces fighting it, so it would have to be something that actually controls them when the string touches them. But yeah I am sure he does have the string as part of the fruit just that it isn't only string.
Well it wasn't Hatchan it seems ...

But a devil fruit was never revealed or mentioned before you see someone with that ability. We learn about mythical zoans when we see Drake transforming. We only know of Whitebeard's power when he used it in the war. For someone as famous as him, we should have at least heard of his abilities way before right? But Oda didn't do that. So if there is a Mizu Mizu fruit, we will find out when someone with that ability uses it.

Didn't Oda say years ago in a SBS that rain water was classified as a different type of water in One Piece compared to Sea Water? So there is the possibility of a water logia, as not all water negatively affects a devil fruit.

In addition as a Logia, you would have the base powers so that unlike Fishmen you can avoid certain attacks.

Wasn't there mizu Mizu fruit in a non-canon movie?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Oda at some point stated that Luffy and others would not be affected while taking a bath.

I'm pretty much sure that there was, but not sure if it was water or just some random liquid.

Pretty sure he exokauned that it had to do with the degree of submersion. i.e. a shower wont affect him but a bathtub would. which makes no sense whatsoever but DF weakneses have been inconsitent throught the story so w/e.

Im pretty sure that what Oda said was that df users aren't affected by "moving" water, like rain or a shower. A bathtub would be considered standing water, so that's why it does affect them

That makes no sense because the ocean is always moving. unless in the calm belt, so DF users can only drown while in the calm belt.

I think it means the water is in a "container", not that it doesn't move inside it. Like if we take the sea or a river it will always be in the same place, or something like that, it's kind of hard to explain...
Anyway here's the quote taken from the wiki translations of the sbs:

D: Odacchi! Here's a question for you! Crocodile can't fight water because he's "sand," right? Then how does he bathe?! Does he at all?! That's filthy!! Do you bathe, Odacchi? by Crocodile's Mother

O: First of all, let's discuss the problem of Devil Powered folks bathing themselves. People who eat Devil Fruit are "hated" by the sea, and cannot swim. The "sea" here can refer to anything from rivers, pools and baths to any kind of standing water. On a worldwide level, they are all the "sea." When these people enter the water, not only can they not use their powers, they have trouble moving their bodies at all. They might be able to struggle a bit, but it wouldn't do much good. That's if their entire bodies are submerged in the "sea." With less than half the body or just the limbs, it gets easier. Also, rain and dripping water have no effect at all. Therefore, hip baths or showers are the most common choice. Now, in Crocodile's case, "water" is the weakness of his very powers, so his abilities are robbed even in the shower. But it's not like there are enemies around when you take a shower, so I'd bet he would take them even with his powers being blocked. Don't you think? ---And to answer your final question, about myself bathing. As it happens, I do bathe. Twice! In a year!

DF weakness are confusing as somehow Ace is weak against Akainu but Aokiji either isn't weak against magma or knows its weakness. The explanation makes sense except when Luffy is standing in the prison (when they are captured by Crocodile) and it fills with water he gets weak very quickly. It gets even stranger when Luffy vs Arlong could move underwater but when he fights the Kraken deep deep in the ocean he delivers a blow that knocks it out (unless somehow the sea weakness can be negated by haki)
Big Mam interrupts the plan to take down Kaidou after this current arc AND Doflamingo is taken down by more than one person (Luffy/Law, Big 3, ect)

Remember, When Luffy fought the Kraken his body wasn't submerged under water; he was in a bubble, when a part of his body entered the water he became weaker but not helpless as if his body was completely submerged.

Luffy pretty well drowned in Arlong's pool, Nojiko and Genzo had to pull his head out of the water for him.
He was in a bubble when he defeated the Kraken, and he admitted that the water was weakening his attacks.

Not sure if this has been brought up.

    http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/SBS_Volume_48
D: Excuse me!! May I pose a serious question to the typically-vulgar SBS?? In Volume 46, Usopp said that the same power doesn't exist twice. But this doesn't make sense with what you said in the Volume 45 SBS... If the Gomu Gomu Fruit was in a book of fruits, then Luffy HAD to have eaten at least the SECOND known example of the fruit! Now, most beautiful and intelligent Ei-chan, explain it all! ✩ P.N. Takafi
O: Very sharp of you. But I'm cool. I haven't made any mistakes. As a hint, let me rephrase what Usopp is saying. "The same powers don't exist twice AT THE SAME TIME". How's that? For more detail, you'll just have to wait for a certain professor to make his appearance in the story, and explain exactly what the Devil Fruits REALLY are... Eventually.
Vegapunk isn't named - but what we all believed was implied.
But what if we get it all from Ceaser Clown? A scientist who is also using DF research.
Well it wasn't Hatchan it seems ...

Agreed. I think it would be a waste for CC (a character introduced this arc) to reveal such huge information when we've been waiting for years to get the explanation from Vegapunk, just because he was an old colleague.

i'd prefer vegapunk explaining it overall, but i wouldn't mind getting a bit of info out of him (rambling to himself before his defeat or whatnot)
