Hmmm I had forgotten all about that.

While it isn't Roger standing there with a signed declaration written in his own blood at the time of his death that he had no DF(jks) - It does make me a little less enthusiastic towards that theory. However that is just a moment in time - also WB was active duiring this time and it seemed to be common knowledge he had the Earthquake ability .... just not to us.

So further lending support to people in the One Piece universe being known for their Names - not their powers. I'm not as sure Roger had the Gomu fruit but I am not discounting it either - too many similarities are popping up for me to consider it unlikely.

I agree seeing as how its obvious that the original members have been to sky islands and other exotic places; they must have knowledge of devil fruits.

Roger may have had one but I highly doubt it was the rubber rubber fruit.

Why is it unlikely he had the Gomu fruit if he had one?
Because there are no legends of him stretching or using it?

Remember SA Human Auction House - the 3 Captains with the Largest bounties fought together and Neither of them knew the others abilities - Also remember Roger destroyed those he fought with.

Have we ever seen a time control fruit ? Or a Dimension Fruit? Bluenos fruit was kinda similiar to a dimension fruit but allowed him only to teleport.

Meh. A real fruit where the user could slash open dimensions, use attacks and transfer it to the real dimension or slow time. It's just tooo Overpowered.

Law can supposedly shift people's positions as well, but that was only in the anime, but will most likely be in the manga soon.

True, I think its the same sort of relationship The scissor guy and Mr.1 share:

Similar powers but, one diving gimmick.

Don't really know what the gimmick is here though; possibly something to do with the dynamics of hammer space and being a fortress or something.

Shiki was also active at this time.

Shiki was also Ret-conned into the OP universe - but the basis of the Character was shown in the new Databook released.

It's a gut feeling that Roger had the Gomu fruit - it would really bring the story full circle.

Also with what Rayleigh said being that what they found at Raftel and the choices they made seemed right at the time. Means when Luffy stands there and has to make the Choice it will be what is the alternative to what Roger chose.

I don't like the idea of Roger having the Gomu Gomu fruit. I think Oda already took it way to far with him having a near-identical appearance to Luffy.

I doubt roger had to gomu gomu fruit. Luffy and roger should have at least some distinctive traits, otherwise Luffy is just a Roger Jr in a nutshell.

I think him being the original owner of the strawhat was too far for me. I was expecting something less cliche from Oda. Maybe if it had originally belonged to Rayleigh, at least.

Don't now if anyone else noticed but, the quota for flight granting fruits is supposedly full now. Marco, Lafitte, Pell, and Shiki's fruits all grant flight and according to some SBS there are only four fruits that grant flight.

Luffy to our knowledge is on the same path as Roger - or a similar one (Sky Island) Has a ship that is similar and is apparently the only one that can make the journey. Appears the same in his youth, and has the Will of D the same type of Haki as Roger.
So I think the links are there enough for something like this to happen - Roger having the Gomu fruit prior to Shanks finding it and allowing it to be close to Luffy.

To my knowledge - which may be wrong to which I am sorry.

But he was developed for the 10th movie and then introduced into the manga via a indevidual comic and then mentioned since. So prior to the 10th movie he wasn't considered part of the OP universe but was something he wanted to introduce so the movie + manga.
Perhaps Ret-conned isn't the right term - I thought it meant introducing something into cannon as if it had always been there. Probably got my facts wrong and it was just a standard introduction via the movie and had a Manga based component.

Yeah - while it would be interesting O.o the Furrys would have a field day with it - although would be funny as if the DF user was male XD
