Oda didn't say that he was interested. At least I don't remember. It was a fan question about why Luffy (and presumably it related to Chopper too) got a nosebleed when seeing Nami but didn't when he saw Hancock. Oda simply blamed Usopp for the whole thing and Luffy was acting like Usopp.

The confusion arises is that Oda simply screwed up by giving them the nosebleed and then decided at a later date that they wouldn't be bothered about sexuality at all. And then having to cover it up in later SBS'

I usually hate couples between characters (and especially starring characters like the mugiwara crew). I can't imagine Luffy with anyone and the only couple i could accept between the mugiwara is Zoro x Robin since they are both quite neutral characters. I can not imagine franky brook nami ussop chopper sanji and luffy with anyone.

Well, I say that, but I do nothing but draw manga. I noticed this when we were drawing it, but if Luffy had a nosebleed when he saw Hancock's body, I think you would all be like "Ehh!?". That's not the Luffy we know. I believe that Luffy reacted to Nami's naked body twice, in volumes 18 and 23, and both times it happened, Usopp was with him! He's the suspicious one! In other words, when Luffy is alone, his reaction is what it was with Hancock. He's interested, but he's not entranced by her. But when he's with Usopp, who's the same age, it's like a kid on a school trip: his bad side comes out!! Yeah, both sides of Luffy feel right to me, so the culprit is definitely Usopp!!

it seems that you need to look fixedly at Hancock to be change into stone. He wasn't, he thought it was different beam, so he tried to cover himself from it.

when you have few young males they are more prone to act pervy (and generally "worse"), than when they are on their own, but that doesn't mean than on their own they are asexual, they just act in more mature way. You cant minify something that just isn't there, Besides Oda pretty stated, than, both sides of Luffy count, so the reaction he has when he is with Usopp is just as truthful as the one he gets when he is alone.

And yes, I understood, which definition of asexuality Katzztar has been referring too, I only think that Luffy don't match the definition, because at least on some occasions he displays signs of being sexually interested in women. For some reasons sexuality, just doesn't play as big part in his life, as it plays in lives of majority teenagers.

In my opinion if any of the straw has be asexual it most likely would be Zoro. But with him it may be just it's really hard to tell.

I have to say i think these are the only straw hat couples i can see happening:
Ussop X Nami because of the whole return to sabaody and how they're just with each other constantly and..
Robin X Chopper .. weird i know 0_o .. but they like sit on the ship all day kissing ass playing board games with each other all day and she's mature and looks like a bit of a weird fetishist so.. eh ;)
