I'd say Brook has elements of Jimi Hendrix, Jack Skellington, Slash, and Prince: Jimi's styling and perm, Jack for body, Slash for volume (and the hat), and Prince for choreography and naughtiness.

“We could not be fulfilled if we weren't inauthentic some of the time—inauthentic, that is, in relation to such things as our passing desires to throttle our children, poison our spouse, or end our marriage over a dispute about changing a lightbulb.” – Alain de Botton
Back on topic of what I said about the lion being inspired by creatures from the Captain Future anime - I´ve found an episode of that adventure though it is poor quality. I hope that you guys can recognize a bit. Here´s a total body shot of the tiger and here a close up of the guy with a Kentauros-esque creature in the background (in reference to one of the horses that pulled the carriage Nami, Usopp and Chopper were in).
it's obvious brooke was based off

But hey, the sizes, the clothing material (?), skin color, eyes, and hair match. Maybe even the nose?
Spoiler:

I figured the lion-man was based off the ancient Manticore: http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/~bbutler/pla.../manticore.jpg
I mean, we've already got a unicorn, a cerberus and an ent.
And Yeah, especially with the Zombies dancing and singing "Zombie night", this can't be any more "thriller"

dunno if anyone pointed this out yet but it should be pretty obvious to DQ fans:
Torneko
He looks and acts exactly like Toto-san(Kohza's father)...well back when he was plump. Torneko was a hugley popular character in Japan so it makes sense.
If anyone can find a pic of toto, post it here and u'll see what i mean.
Sorry for the mega-bumping, guys![]()
Thought I'd share something, but kick me in the head if someone's already posted this (I swear, I looked!)
Oda-sensei lists Baz Luhrmann as one of his favourite directors... These are from his 1996 Romeo and Juliet adaptation. Guess who.
Here's a little bit of mannerism and scrawniness:
And the fact that there's even a Hawaiian shirt (albeit a different colour) amuses me to no end:

http://dwindlinginunbelief.blogspot..../label/Absalom
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absalom
Kind of ironic, since Absalom probably isn't the most beautiful character in One Piece, unless you like lions an awful lot....I was kind of looking at a page on this site one day and I noticed Absalom in the side column....a bit before I joined.......says the real Absalom's hair was twenty times as thick as a normal human's, like a lion's mane, so....plus "Absalom", as in the character, could be Oda remembering "Aslan" (the lion from Narnia) wrong...
But how come the manga spoiler thingies keep spelling his name as Ablossom (Aburosamu) or something, yet everyone calls him Absalom? Is that a typo in Japanese or not?
I think it's because of the phonetic differences between English and Japanese that results in that sort of problem with translated names. And the reason Absalom probably stuck is that Moria/Moriah has some biblical origin as well.
As for inspiration, this may be a bit of a stretch, but whatever.
Bacterian from Dragonball
It'd be better if I had a better picture of Bacterian, but google yields no such results especially of his smell compared to Blackbeard's devil fruit.
Remind you of anyone?

Calling it now: Big Mom has the Sui Sui no Mi (Acid Acid Fruit).
Many gothic lolitas look the same... Is that some famous person?
The proud captain (and only member) of the Limnology Pirates. Join us, we do all kinds of interesting stuff, including:
-Talking about arachnids.
-Argueing over the taxonomy of Algae.
-Glaring at people who claim that spiders are insects.
Yeah, that's Mana, the guy who INVENTED Gothic Lolita.
Compare that picture to the intro pic of Perona.

Moria's design reminds me of Trianglon or whatever the name of the SBS triangle thing is....
Only he might've switched the triangle upside down for the head. And he added a body and stitches.
I think Oda-chi changed his mind and put Trianglon as a shichibukai, giving him a name and stoof.....
Now I'm tempted to draw some triangles....
Baskerville reminded me of the ending of the PC game Day of the Tentacle, those who played it should understand.
Was browsing the internet (Something to do when work's slow) when I came across the Golliwog stories. Here's a pic of Golliwog:
Apparently the Golliwog was a book character in Great Britain from the late Victorian Era. Although a bit stereotypical by today's standards, Golliwog's behavior was a lot like Brooke's.
