I've only seen the first thirty-some episodes of the German dub, and I always liked the voices very much. I'll have to check out some of the Water 7 ones; I've been itching to hear Paulie and Iceberg in other languages for quite a while. I absolutely loved German Johnny and Yosaku. :3

How come in the german version of one piece how come they don't change the original music and do edits by skipping but not changing things like the blood?

They most likely wouldn't be nearly as far as they are if they bothered going in and shopping the blood and things out instead of just skipping out on things.

What do you mean by that?

It takes a long time to edit something out of an animation or movie, especially if it appears a lot. If I'm editing a scene where, say, someone gets a bloody nose and the blood is dripping over their lips and down their chin. It means that for every second this is happening, I'd have to take, say, five pictures (I have no idea how many frames is in the average second in an anime.). On every one of those five pictures, I have to take the regular skin color and color it over the blood. I also have to make sure that it fits the shading, or else it'll look really stupid. To make things worse, if it covers something up completely, I'd have to totally draw whatever it covered.

When you delete an entire scene, you just pull a chunk of the animation out of the original. It's a lot faster, even if it's unfaithful to the source material.

How come the edits in one piece are not that heavily edited like 4 kids entertainment if the german version is for little kids also?

Because german censorship isn´t quite on the same level as US censorship which is a league of its own.

the german version was dubbed uncut and cencored for tv(rtlII cencorship )!!there exists a german uncut version which was shown on the 31th dec.(german new year special on tele 5 ) the complette arlong arc was shown uncut!
if anytime op comes on dvd(in germany) it would be the german uncut version!)

As it seems by now RTL2 is repeating episodes from G8 filler to Ep262 from October on (they're replace "the fresh prince" that will replace "Takeshi's Castle" - so it's 2 Eps a day from 4PM!) - then they'll make a break until April '08... It's still unclear - but none the less possible - that they'll show Enie's Lobby next year... *vfg,d&r*

There's also Digimon Savers in the 2008 lineup ... so One Piece might be one of two series of that they'll show "nu eps"...

I have the horrendous editing of Tom's death saved off of Youtube on my puter. They took out the parts where CP5 fires thwe tranqs at Tom, and has him die for good in front of everyone instead of being shot with the tranqs (which take effect quickly anyways). They also cut out the shot with Spandam's bloodied face smashed in on ze ground, and added a 1-minute recap thigny to the beginning.

I think it's to try to not get kids to run around shooting tranqs at their own personal "Tom-sans," but that's just me. If you ask me, the obnoxious little blond boy who teases me down the street's my personal "Tom-san" with me as the weak, annoying-voiced Spandam who trips all over the place. But I'm more forgetful.

I'm actually enjoying the semi-mutant-4kids version of One Piece in Spanish. It may not be uncut like the one of spain, but the voice acting is decent and the lines are truly loyal to the original, and people do die; Zoro does Kill the wolf of Helmeppo, and Helmeppo actually looks threatening with the Hammer-Gun, and being One Piece, the gun/hammer stuff is pretty easy to ignore.

Arabasta is not even translated, and with 4kids out, I think they are going to be obligued to re-start their relations with Toei or get it from Spain, wich would be the same. XD

Seriously, Mexican censoring is more worried with the word "DIE" as a name (Dai from DQ got translated as FLY to avoid the use of "Die/Dai") than something like blood or even names like Mr.Satan, even tough sometimes it's hilarious how creepy it sounds that in an anime people is shouting "Satan! Satan!" over and over again untill you notice the dude is just a complete moron. :P

I just wanna make sure you understand though, that Mexico dubbed "We are" and "Memories" (which is still unreleased) from the 4Kids Dubbed versions of those songs. Than again, the spanish dub is done by Cloverway, the sister company to Toei, so that might explain how they got those intros.

When i heard the "Spändäm" thing,I though I was gonna drop!They always do this,making Japaneese names to sound "english-like"-what do you think they did with Luffy's name?Instead of "Rufi" its "Raffy" .Also,I havent seen the new eps,cept a few bits on youtube,but I just couldnt stand listening to Foxy,compared to the original (and anything else for that mater) his voicing is ......screeechy,for lack of a better word.Also chaning a short and catchy name like Aokiji to "Blaue phasan" made it so that it doesnt even SOUND like a name!And im glad i didnt see the nami change scene and the toms workers ep in german,cause the edits just mentioned got me so MAD........they (RTL II) are lucky,because otherwives id just start spaming their emails (like their doing mine,once a few years back i registered on the RTL II site to ask a question from "Be" ,precisely why they started airing the Rainbow Mist arc when they stoped it at the end,then began to air the WHOLE show and didnt even GET to it,and since my old email is made useles,because of several thousand new emails,mostly spam sent by,or courtesy of,RTL II) .

But to sum it up-Spändäm ?Its Span-dam and RTL II can just CHOKE ON IT! (okay a bit radicle,but it stil pisses me of non plus ultra).
